I need some advice from all you gasser specialists. Got my wife an '04 TB with the V8. Really like that small block...but my wife informs me she'd like a little more power. Not to the extent of my pickup...but more than stock. So, has anyone messed around with this thing. I'm wondering if a chip and intake would make much of a difference. I know you can go wild and change heads, cams and add a blower...but it still is more of a grocery getter and to drive the kids around.

Just thought I'd check here.....there is a ton of knowledge on this site. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Wayne

I know this isn't a TB site...but thought with these engines being similar....the 5.3 and 6.0 and all. I might get some insight on what to do.

Thanks for looking,

Wayne

Depends on how for you want to go.

Intakes
pcm programming
heads
cams
stroker kits
S/C kits

4.8,5.3,6.0,5.7 are ls1 series engines, and are interchangable and same.

air intake
headers
low restriction muffler
electric fan
custom pcm tune

Its nothing major, but I did all that to my old GMC Sierra 1500 and definately felt the power increase. It wasn't like holy $hit this things fast, but it ran really good.

Eric,

So do I take the third row seating out?? Then position the drivetrain in reverse and make a front wheel drive out of it???

You're confusing me man.....I really like the way the 5.3 runs in this thing....smooth, quiet...and I thought plenty of getty-up for my better half. But...she gets behind the wheel of the HD....especially since the SunCoast upgrade...And now she's a power addict.

Seriously, I was wondering if guys had some pretty good results with chips/tuners and intake. Was hoping to not have to go as far as heads and a cam. Exhaust is a possibility.

Thanks,

Wayne

I would venture a visit over to LS1TECH.com and see what those boys have to say.. They are LS1 freaks and GEN III engine as we are to Diesels.. They might have a better and more accurate answer to what your looking for
