: H2 hummer rims and tires?
Turboboy87 10-13-2007, 12:56 PM I have been searching on here and am thinking about getting a set of h2 hummer rims with the 315 70 17 tires on them. I have not been able to find an exact answer to what i have to do to make them fit. The truck is stock now. Would turning up the torsion bars and trimming the front valance be all i have to do? Maybe shock extenders and a block for the rear? The truck will not really see off roading... Anyone who has done this fit chime in and let me know thanks
Turboboy87 10-13-2007, 04:11 PM or would i be better off going with 285 75 16?
pmbinc7618 10-13-2007, 06:56 PM On my '06 CC/LB 2WD I am running 17 inch Hummer H2 rims and 265-70's with lots of clearance. These tires, Michelin LTX AT2's, are about an inch taller and an inch wider than the stockers.

cincykid 10-15-2007, 08:42 AM FWIW, I have a 4" suspension lift on my truck and have stock H2wheels with the BFG AT's (Stock) on them on my 2004 2500HD. You WILL HAVE TO put 1/4" wheel spacers on the front wheels. I think you should be able to squeeze them in with stock setup and bars cranked. I am NOT a fan of cranked bars as if they do any damage it wont be cheap. Just spend the money and get a suspension lift. 4" is perfect for me. Plenty oif room for the tires, looks great, rides better than before.
The spare 35" even fits under the back of the truck where the stock spare was!
Turboboy87 10-15-2007, 12:12 PM Does anyone have pictures of the new 08 rims and tires on there truck? Can you still use chevy center caps?
jboss9 10-15-2007, 08:59 PM I have H2's and 315/70 BFG on my truck. All I had to do was turn up the tbars, trim valance and zip tie back the iner fender liner.
BlackSSmoke 10-17-2007, 02:00 PM man, where are the pics....? Looking to get the same set up but I was wondering the same thing. What do I need to do to make fit H2 chrome rims with BFG AT 315/70-17's ...??????:nopics:
moore87 10-17-2007, 02:36 PM Depends on your definition of "fit" really.
If you just turn up the bars and trim the bumper valence, the tires WILL rub. Maybe not driving in a straight line, but with the wheel turned and hitting a bump (driveway for example) then will rub.
The only true way to get them to not rub is to turn the bars and cut/reshape the metal in the back of the wheelwell
My bars are cranked around 1.5" and I cut 2-3" of metal behind the plastic liner. Now I can hit any size bump with the wheels turned and they don't rub. It still comes pretty close.

True for most trucks (Mine included). I didn't cut any metal but I did do some massaging with a BFH:D. One thing I have noticed...the tires only rub for about the first 20k miles...after that they clear just fine:rolleyes::cool:.
Pic's in garage once it's back up.
01Duramax6spd 10-18-2007, 10:25 AM Did you guys just trim/smash the pinch weld area or the fender under the flare? I've trimmed the pinch weld area and the bottom of the fender so I should be able to run 315"s????
T-Bars are almost maxed out too.

(this is looking from underneath the truck up at the bottom of the fender)
I pulled back the liner and took a cutoff wheel and cut from the fender flare at an angle back towards the bolt on the bottom. Then I used a BFH and "rolled" the pinch weld over and flattened it. Then the edge that I cut, I rolled it upwards with the hammer so I didn't have any sharp edges.
I also pop-rivited the black liner back to the body mount on the frame.

I have a set coming Monday I bought off ebay. Have green keys, now looking for +2 shocks.
Ah yes, what tool kit would be complete without a BFH! Problem is, it's the tool of choice more times than it needs to be in my garage.:D

305/70/17's should fit without much trouble. There are pics in my garage.

I pulled the outside layer down and then cut the pinch weld out. Last I bent the outside layer back up. My 315's don't touch anything. Even Crossing drain furrows in a bean field at 30mph
Turboboy87 10-18-2007, 01:23 PM Anyone in the chicagoland area with these on there truck? That maybe i could see?

I just beat on it until it cleared...

If I ever have to pay full price for tires, this is the size I would get.
DrededSS 10-19-2007, 12:16 AM I pulled the 315's off while I had the H2's since I knew I was going bigger later and didn't want to break out the BFH. A little torsion bar tweak and minor trimming for the 285's. I don't think the 315's look right on the truck unless there's some lift.

RENODMAX 10-19-2007, 02:08 AM Im getting a set of H2's soon too! Mine are going to be black though. And probably without a center cap. there was one member a while ago who did this and it looked awesome.
DrededSS 10-19-2007, 11:38 AM I only ran the H2's and 285's for a month. Selling them to recoup some of my black pro-comp money.
travrazz 10-19-2007, 12:04 PM I run H2's with 285/75R17 BFG A/t's. On my GMC, I angle cut the front valance, and did some trimming to the black inner fenderwell's. I also cranked the torsion bars a few turns. No rubbing at all. I wanting to go to a 315 next and I know I'll have to do some "messaging" to get them to fit without maxing out my torsion bars.
Turboboy87 10-19-2007, 12:17 PM Dreddedss are you selling just the tires? or rims and tires? how much? let me kno thanks
RENODMAX 10-19-2007, 12:51 PM I have my truck rekeyed and cranked, and it clears 305's no problem, no rubbing at all. Ive trimmed the front valence and fenderwells.
slownova 10-19-2007, 07:41 PM it all depends on if you want them to fit or not. i did and cranked my tbars up all the way and cut the air dam a little bit. i couldn't of been happier with the look, ride, anything. before you say cranking my tbars was stupid, in 75k miles i had it like that, all that happend was the tires wore a little funny. here are pics. if anyone has a set of H2 tires, id love to buy them. thanks.

WanaDmxsub 10-19-2007, 11:47 PM One more thing...have the alignment checked after you crank your bars. It will be off.
slownova 10-20-2007, 02:03 AM i ran my t-bars up with a impact, and i never got it aligned, but it never pulled or did anything weird.
DrededSS 10-20-2007, 10:39 AM After cranking my bars, the alignment was very bad.
Turboboy87 10-27-2007, 12:40 AM Will the h2 315 70 17 work if i get the cognito leveling kit and 1.5 inch blocks for the rear? will i need spacers or did cognito fix this problem? Thanks
