Just bought a 02 Dmax CC short box with a new set of factory take-offs on it. I travel interstate hiways quite a bit & i think they ride great,...they just look awful (too small for the truck) I'm looking at some 265s & cranking the front TBs a tad to level it. How do 265-285s ride compared to factory baby tires? thanks

I have 265 BFG AT KO's ride just fine, can't comment on the 285's

I have MIchelin M/S 265's, don't remember any difference between them and the stock 245's. A friend has 285's, ride isn't quite as good on rough roads, but no difference if you are running mainly on interstates. I'll be looking at new tires before spring, I'll probably get 285's, look much better.

I have 265 Firestone Steeltex A/T's, No noticeable difference in ride or handling, Maybe cuz they are a big brother to the stock tires.

I have BFG T/A KOs in 285 and so far I think they ride better than stock. Roads are pretty rough in alaska and it seems to ride a little smoother. This is just my first impression with only a couple of days with them. Looks 10Xs better too!

My 285s ride much better than stock, the stockers didn't flex near as much on the hard bumps I drive over.

My 315's ride ALOT better than the stock 245s the truck had.

Biggest ride improvement I saw was when I installed new shocks (Bilstein shocks) the OEMs are very soft. The air bags help keep the truck level when I pull a fifth wheel.

Around town I can't tell the difference with 285's AT KO's. On gravel I also find the 285's handle smoother.

I ran 285 cooper STs for awhile and didn't notice much change from the stock ride, but you could feel the difference in the way the truck handled. Switched to 265 cooper ST-Cs and they ride slightly better and handle way batter than the 285's.

The sidewall composition of the tires makes a great deal more of a difference than height. It really depends on what brands your interested in. Some sidewells are soft and bounce down the road as if your riding on balloons. Throw a load on themthough and you'll be white knucklin' it in any kind of weather. From my own personal experience BFG all terrains offer a very happy medium. I seem to get a solid planted feel from them in the corners loaded and unloaded, they ride pretty damn good are very aggresive looking and not overly loud. I have a set of 33"x12.50x16.5's on my big block K2500 with 45,000 miles on them and while the bite is gone they still have a lot of tread left. My crew cab has a brand spankin' new set of AT's (315/70-17's) that stick like glue ride very well and should keep me happy for quite some time. On the other hand the 37" Goodyears that just came off of the truck were chewed up at 37k and rode like shart in comparison. The (same brand) 265's that I've owned always seemed to ride better than any of the 245's, slightly better than 285's and more still than the 315's.

I put Michelin 265's on the stock rims and was/am very impressed with the ride improvement over stock tires. Also have Bilsteins front and rear and they dramatically improved the ride as well.

I have 265 BFG AT KO's, they run great, I also bought another set of wheels and stock sized tires so any tranny warranty can't be denied.

I got the 285 BFG AT KO's and believe the taller tire makes a huge difference all around except fuel mileage in town. Need to upgrade the factory shocks though. (65000 miles)

Do the bigger tires, 265 & 285s, decrease trailer pulling power up grades much? And what kind of hit in fuel mileage do people see?

I just took off my 245 load E Blizzaks and put on my 265 Michelin Es. The Michelins are a little more friendly on the bumps, but the 245s had better steering response, which is due to the shorter side wall and less flex.

I noticed the same on my old 1/2 ton when going from the Uniroyal 245/C to the Goodyear 265/D. The taller side wall again has more "flex". Similar experience as switching from a standard S rated tire on your car to a V or Z rated. Stiffer side wall = better steering response, but a little more harsh on the bumps.

I have 285 they didnt rub but when i bought the centramanic wheel balancers they spaced them an quarter inch out so they rub a little, i cranked the Tbars a little but the ride suffers, the 285's look a million times better, 265's dont look as good, when i bought my tires i first went with 265's but then traded them for 285's cause they looked so much better

I went from E rated 245/75/16 BFG Commercial T/A's to D rated 295/75/16 BFG All Terrain T/A's. The 295's definately have a softer ride. Took out some of the harshness from cranking the Torsion Bars. I do miss the way the Commercial T/A's track on the highway. They make it feel like the A/T's float, but that's just tread patterning.
