I discovered something this weekend when I tried to put a plow on my truck.
The plow was a western made for a 99 and newer SD it didn’t fit. I look into it and found my truck is more like a 98&1/2 western said they didn’t make a plow for my truck
Because the front leafs are only rated for 4400 lbs FGVRW I talked to my local ford dealer they were no help at all I called the ford motor co. and they didn’t help either what else will I find is different with this truck then a regular 99 please help!

The suspension on the early 99's and late 99's should be the same. The late 99's have a different turbo, air intake box, and slightly smaller front rotors, amoung a few other little things.

Ford did not produce a 1998 Super or Heavy duty truck. You have one of the first 99's made but it's still a 99.

Are you putting a used plow or new plow on?

Thanks for the info but I think the suspension is different I think a regular 99 has a FGAWR of 4800lbs and my truck has a FGAWR of 4400lbs. The plow is a used Western but it was off a 99. When I tried to put it on the front spreader arms part fit fine but the support brackets that mount to the frame around the leaf springs fit but didn’t line up with the spreader arm they were 1” or so too far toward the rear of the truck. With a little modification they could be made to fit and that is what I think I will have to do. Any thing else you can tell me would be helpful.
