I was brainstorming about a new hitch for next year, as my current hitch is 6" or so past the bumper, for a better design. I was thinking of trying to build a hitch that out of the stock receiver and then goes around the bumper as close to the tailgate as I could get. Has anyone done this, or should I just build a hitch that is as close to the bumper as I can get. I really don't want to remove the bumper like some guys do, but would like the benefits of pulling closer to the truck.
Thanks for any info.

Doing what you described will give the sled way too much leverage on the back of the truck and will want to pull the front of the truck. Maybe just my opinion though. If you want I could make something up for you that will bolt in place. PM me if you are interested. And good luck.

the longer hitch does this.
the shorter the better, but the most rules say the hitch has to be past the truck (any part).
check rules #1
This is why guys go w/ roll pan and a class V hitch moved forward.

I am going to check my rules, but never would have thought of that, thanks.

Roll pan makes it easy. I moved the Tow Beast forward about 15" on the frame.
