I have the dreaded clunk. The truck was at the dealer around 60k and they pulled the leaf springs apart, cleaned them, put the new plastic pads on the ends and the noise went away for a few month but came back. I bought the rubber donuts that slip over the ends of the helper spring and they did nothing. Anybody got a magic bullet for this? That clunk is making me crazy! :(

I put them on like the picture I saw on the website. I slid them down about 4 or 5 inches. They haven't moved.

Spare tire loose? Reciever hitch flopping around? Crap in the Bed? Loose shock absorber? I have seen all these cause the "spring slap noise" over speed bumps etc.

I had the dealer put rubber caps on the ends of the lower leaf and the slap is gone :)

Get some of you heaviest friends to jump up and down in the bed while you are underneath.

I have checked everything. It's the exact same noise I had before the dealer work cured it before.

Seriously, check your lower shockabsorber bolts. I went through the exact same symptoms/scenario as you.
The leafspring TSB did fix the problem, but somehow during the same time period my shock loosened. Made me think my springs were still the culprit. Loose lower shock bolt sounds the same as leaf spring clunk!
My thunk is the fuel sloshing in the tank. Geo

had the same problem....been to dealer 6 time to replace the plastic cap/spacers and everytime they come out....finally the dealer told me they will not fix that problem and to get hold of gm directly......well I have a cannopy and 300L tank plus my tool box the track with out occupants is 8400 lb and from my checkings the lower leaf twists and with the load on the leafs the spacer gets ripped out and other time I noticed that with the upper leafs slapping on the lower leave cracks the plastic spacers......I just went to some hardware store and go some edhisive rubber pads and had no probelem since.....

Do yourselves a favor, flip the overloads. If it is slapping from the overload, problem solved, and you'll love the ride and never look back.

easiest and cheapest fix for that spring slap noise here (http://www.gmdieseltech.com/store2/cart.php?target=product&action=view&product_id=16222&category_id=248) and it dont break/wear off like the plastic disks.

I had 2 leaves and a helper added. Now my truck's helper springs dont rest on the fame any more.
