Sorry for the long post this time, I'm new to turbos and have a few questions. Just bought a 92 6.5 LTD. Seemed to run good driving it about 300 miles on the highway, but I wouldn't know for sure since I don't know what power it should have. However, I've only started it a couple times in the 30 F degree range and when it started it sounded like it was running on only a couple cylinders and the smoke is major at first until it gets warmed up a bit. I'm in central Oregon and we have a lot of mornings in the below 20 F and and sometimes down around 0 F.

Therefore I have pulled the 5 easy glow plugs to check them. All checked out as working. They are AC 9G. Had some soot on the ends of them even though they checked out with the ohm meter. Should I install a different GP for all of them. Been reading posts about the AC 60s. Not sure what to do. Please advise which is best to use.

Also, in trying to get to the back GPs on the passenger side, still trying, I noticed my turbo down pipe looks to be dented up (or is it just shaped that way) between the frame and the block. I assume it should be round like the rest of the exhaust. Am I right. It looks to me like it may be restricted, if it isupposed to be full round. If this need changing, any advice on where to get one at a reasonable price?

If it is restriced being dented, how would this effect the performance? Does it effect the cold startup and smoking?

Finally, does the lift pump sometimes make a clicking noise for a few seconds after the key is shut off? Mine did when I turned it off the last time.

Thanks for any advise and direction!

Welcome to the dieselplace.
The lift pump making noise is a good thing. If you notice it's absence, it's time to fix it or the OPS.

I think it would be a good idea to replace your downpipe, crossover and exhaust with 3", 3 1/2", or 4" pipe and check those last three plugs when it's off.The cylinders with bad glows generally knock louder when cold due to the lack of heat to ignite the fuel at first.
I don't think that you'd care to run the '95+ flowmaster pipes for ~$100 USD for the x-over and downpipe due to the cat flange you don't have. I bought the bully dog '92-'93 flangeless pipe but it cost $175 with no crossover.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll check them out and get the rest of the GPs out.
