So I have been wanting to do a stereo in my truck (06 Crew Cab 4wd) and I was wanting to know if anyone had did a blow through installation for the sub box in the bed using a waterproof boot in between the bed and cab. I did this on one of my previous trucks and it worked out great, but I also had a tonneau ?sp. on my truck so it was out of the elements. I have my bed line xed so I am thinking about line xing the entire box inside and out and adding the subs probably 4 12's. Two 12's just doesn't do it for me since I am used to 6 of them. Ha Ha Ha! Last time when I got ready to sale the truck we just took the bed off, welded the first piece of the cab back in and then the second piece of the bed, and then we fiberlgassed over the welds for added protection. Am I crazy or can anyone offer me any advice? Thanks!

It can be done! BUT, most guys do it on street trucks with won't get beat like a 4x4. As soon as you take it off road it will teek or crack the seal if not done right. just my .02

My buddy has it on his 05 1/2 ton with an 18" FTS lift on 40s... we hotlap it at Pismo and havent had a problem yet. He has 4 12"s i beleive in the cuthru. Superior Sound in Fresno did it. He had the box built out of wood, then attached to the bed, then his linex was sprayed for the whole bed, including covering the box. Very clean install. Ill find some pics and post them.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. Like I have said I have had it done before with zero problems. The most offroad I get is through my fields to go hunting...so I think I would be ok. Anyone else have any ideas?

Sounds like you already know what you're doing. I was gonna say the exact same thing about lineXing.

jonyb, off topic I know, but how did you trim the metal part of your fender, if you don't mind. Thanks

a guy at my local shop actually linexs the boxes he builds--even when used inside vehicles to help reduce vibration. but ya it has been done before like that.

Already done when I bought the truck, but I'd do it with a 4" side grinder.

You can fit 4 12s behind the seat just cut off the seat frame bolt and install new ones 11/2"- 2" forward I lifted mine 2" for 4 10s. I never liked blow throughs except on comp truck or customs. For a DD your resale would go to crap and I would worry about cab the integrity.

my 92 reg cab has a blow thru and i never really had a problem. it is a street truck mind you. i used an accordian style boot used for sleepers on semi's. same deal,,built the box,,then line-xed it and never had a problem. no tonno cover either. been like this for about 3 years now.

I have 2 12's nicely in mine, And I know the guy who did my box can fit 3 12's or 4 10's behind the seat in the crew cabs...
