Hi;
I see lots of posts about front end noise. I posted couple of them myself! but this damn noise/rattle is still there. I read something about 4x4 swtich or something which was loose on one of the member's truck few weeks ago but I can not find that thread. Anybody knows or remember anything which can help me? I would really appreciate your help. My streering shaft has been changed, I've been in dealer few times, front end looks and feels thight, hood laches and stop rubbers are good, ... but this damn rattle can be heared somewhere toward driver side or by firewall.
Thanks for any help

Do you have a bug deflector? If so, take it off and run it up to highway speed and see if the noise is still there. They cause turbulence around the wiper cowl/lower windshield area and cause a rattle/noise at highway speeds.

Good luck,

Thanks Mike:
It is not a constant rattle. It just happens when I hit very slight irregular surfaces at any speed almost. I can swear iti s by firewall but I have looked, touched and tried to move everything inside and out side the cab. I really don't think it is steering shaft, since it has changed to new one, the bearing and bushing has changed. Beside, I don't really hear it when I go over big bumps, it is just small wavey road. Just drive me crazy. I wich I could lift the front end and shake the front!!!. Somtimes I am concern that something is gona fall off:eek:

It sure does sound like the steering shaft. I think I would lube the shaft. As some people have stated on this site the noise can come back after less than a 1,000 miles. Good luck.
