I love the flow master "Big Block on my yukon. Also in your sig,it says you have the "Allison 6 speed,on the 6.0 vortec" Dont think its the alli.
elk hunter tom 10-07-2007, 02:22 PM what series of flowmaster? and i justrelized i dont have the ally i will change thanks for pointing that out! any body else has any ideas
f250powerhouse 10-07-2007, 06:30 PM Flowmaster super 40 is the way I would go. I know a guy with the Gibson on his 04 6.0 and it sounds good but not very loud and kinda pricey. The Gibson took quite a quile to break in also.
offthewall 10-07-2007, 06:57 PM look into the hooker aero chambers. sound alot like a flowmaster, but just enough difference to tell. i really like em on my 83. given its a big cam naturally aspirated engine though.:D
tytan 10-07-2007, 07:00 PM The 6.0 is prone to cab drone. I have a Flo Pro 2506 on a 2000 2500 with the 6.0 and it sounds good at idle but quietens down to almost stock sound above 2000rpm. If I had to do it again I would try the 2504 as it's supposed to have a more aggressive sound to it.
steady eddie 10-07-2007, 07:09 PM Tom--
I have always had very good luck using the Flowmasters. They have no "packing" to blow
out and never change tone. There used to be
2-3 and 4 chambered ones, with the 2s being
the loudest and the 4s being the quietest.
As a side note here: The OE exhaust flows well.
Check out the AC Delco replacement cost for
your stock muffler!! I was shocked. For my
single exhaust Motorcoach the muffler was
well over 400-dollars!! They must be Stainless
Steel. Except for the fact that the OE exhaust
is really quiet, they do flow well. I am struggling
with if I even want to mess with it.

Duromax04 10-08-2007, 01:08 AM I probably would not go with any bigger than 3 inch on your pipe. That small block needs a little back pressure, or you will loose some bottom end. Being that I don't know how loud you like your mufflers, it is hard to give a recomendation. However, if you like mellow, the Dyno Max super turbo is mellow, but it's flow numbers are pretty good. If you like more aggressive, then you could also look at MagnaFlo. i have heard good things about them. Also Dynomax makes one called Ultra Flo. That and the Magna are straight through mufflers.
I had a set of Flowmaster, but didn't really think much of them. My personal opinion i that they sounded tinny, but to some they sound great. It is all up to your personal likes and dislikes.
Good Luck.
sbarshie 10-08-2007, 01:34 PM I've got the Flowmaster "big block" (reg cab, 6.0 LB) and the cab drone is terrible. I would have definitly left it stock, had I not smashed it on a tree.
If your are going to replace the stock exhaust make sure you keep it, or at least don't hack it all apart. You might want to use to again.
This actaully makes me think, does anyone know how to reduce the cab drone on mine?
Another thing the stock exhaust was like $600 bucks, that's why I got the flowmaster.
Duromax04 10-08-2007, 02:41 PM The Super Turbo's don't drone badly. If you have echo tubes on the ends of your pipe, that will make them drone more, or if you have them cut off under the bed, that will also make them resonate off the bed.
LeadfootDuramax 10-08-2007, 04:09 PM Flowmasters sound good, but can stay loud while cruising. My buddy got tired of his and went with Magnaflow. It sounds good when accelerating and when you are on it, but they quiet down when crusing. It's much more tolerable when on a road trip.
elk hunter tom 10-08-2007, 08:12 PM What about these mufflers?

If the replacement muffler is an oval muffler, setting
(mounting) it up on edge, will lower or eliminate cab
drone. The flat(er) sides of the muffler resonate noise
sideways, then, instead of off the road surface and
up into the cab. Look under a new Chevy 8.1 L Workhorse Chassis (Motorcoach) at their dual exhaust set-up, you'll
find two oval mufflers sideways, up on edge.
I see you found out how much the OE "quiet" exhaust
system is worth, amazing to me, too...

rockman20 10-09-2007, 08:58 AM I had Flowmaster Delta Flows on my old 82 Scottsdale with the 350. I had headers and true duals. The pipe was 2.5" and it was thick walled pipe. The mufflers were placed just before the rear axle. The tail pipes went over the axles and then exited at a 90* on each side of the truck.
My buddy that is buying the truck from me stopped over last night. I LOVE the way that thing sounds. It just sounds mean without being overly loud. I want that sound again. However, I don't believe I would put it on my dually. It would be too much drone on the highway towing a heavy load. But if I ever get another 1/2 ton or a Blazer, I am definitely going that route again!
FastDonzi 10-09-2007, 09:08 AM There is a heat sheild available that goes over the flomaster muffler, It will cancel out most of the Drone. I haven't tried it "YET". but I'm sure thinking about it. It probably works for other brands with similar shapes.

TELL ME MORE!!
Who sells this? Is it a special design, what does it mount to.
You really think its coming off the flat sided muffler?
Thanks, at least I have an idea about where to look next.;)
Duromax04 10-09-2007, 09:40 PM I have true duals on mine, and I have my mufflers settingup on their edge symesed together. There are pictures on my garage. I don't have drone on mine. However, I have Super Turbo's
DieHardChevyMan 10-09-2007, 10:03 PM I had a Magnaflow on my 1500HD and recently switched over to dual Flowmaster Super 44's. I love them. Just to throw it out there, if you want a Magnaflow I am selling my dual inlet single outlet or it can be reversed.
elk hunter tom 10-12-2007, 07:42 AM well i have decided to to go with the 50 series HD flowmaster thanks for the responses!!
tommyd2500 10-27-2007, 08:40 PM I have a 04 2500 6.0 with a flowmaster 40 series and a single 3inch tailpipe sounds awsome 2 chamber would be to loud.
