im lookin for a used dmax but cant find the right one, iv seen some 4 sale that i like but they all have the same probelms, their automatics. nothing aginst the allison, if i did have a automatic thats what it would be. i figure if im gonna pay 20 to 30K on a truck i might as well get what i really want. iv thought about getting a new truck custom ordered but i would perfer the lb7, but im guessin u cant get a lb7 any more(lly would be alright i like the lb7 because there are more chips and programmers avaliable, if anybodys got or sees a good 6 speed for sale let me know P.S. most dealers iv been to dont even have any 6 speeds in stock:(
6 Spd is gonna be a tougher find that's for sure. Pre-owned isn't a bad bet on the power side either because even the '05's with 6 speeds are still rated at the original 300 hp 520 ft/lbs because of the dual mass flywheel and the inability to handle the higher input (at least I think that's the reason). You might post in the vendor forum or the classifieds wanted forum to see what kind of action you get. Good luck!
9465, I would spend some time browsing the ZF-6 forum on this site. Lots of guys having issues with clutch/flywheel, particularly with power adders.

I read once on a thread somewhere on this site that the ratio of Allison auto to ZF-6 manual is 9:1. That's probably why they're tough to find.

I've only seen ONE DMax with the ZF6 on any dealer's lot. That was back in late 2001!
I've been looking on www.gmbuypower.com searching the inventory for the past two years, and have yet to see any there either. At first I only wanted a standard trans DMax but the Allison is a nice tranny. If you plan on leaving it at stock power levels, then the ZF will be fine. If you are going to mod, then go with the Allison.
Now if it were a Dodge Cummins Ram, then the ONLY way I'd have one is with the manual trans.
Looking for a ZF6 DMax is going to be like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack! Good luck.

I too wanted a 6spd but I also wanted the leather and in gm's infinite wisdom you cant have both the top line interior and the ZF. I finally test drove the ally first with the 8.1 gasser then the lly and all I can say is wow!:D I never muched cared for the auto tranny but I was impressed and ordered an 05 D/A now I just have to wait. But I feel for you 9465, I could not find a single 6 spd in so cal used or new.
Good luck in your hunt!
I've seen a total of two others in three years. Had to order mine. The only problem I see with a 6spd is you need to order it so you take a chance on the specific deal, rebate etc, you get from GM. I got a good deal on mine but a few months later could have gotten an Alli for just a little more. Not sure I would though. I like my 6spd and having a stick prevents my wife from driving it too much!!!!

I saw one about two weeks ago in Victoria, Texas. I believe it was a 2003. It was priced ok, but didn't have the LS trim if I recall correctly. Very low mileage. I can try to find out more if you are interested. Let me know.

Give Riverton Superstore (gm dealer all lines) a call in Elko, NV. Quite a few GM, Fords and Dodges sold in NE Nevada with manual transmissions.
