I want to pull for my first time and i am not sure what i need to hook up... here is what is says.

The hitch must be rigid in all directions and solidly mounted to vehicle. Hitch point may be a 3/4 inch Ð 1 inch diameter hole in 3/8 inch gauge steel capable of accepting a clevis pin assembly. The clevis pin assembly will be provided by the contestant; clevis must have a 3 inch diameter opening and pass Technical Committee or Judges inspection. The effective pulling point (place where draw bar attaches to the vehicle) before, during and after the pull may be NO further forward than 36 inches from the center line of the rear axle.

Can i just take the ball out of my 2" drop hitch and use a 3" D-Ring? I have a D-Ring that has a 2.5" opening in the center... not sure if the 3" is measure in the center of the metal or actual opening, so follow up question --- WHERE CAN I GET WHAT I NEED?

If i can use the hitch by removing the ball... where do i get the 3" Ring? If i can't use my drop hitch... where do i get one of those straight ones?

Event is tomorrow night and the staff never got back to me!!

Also should i pull in 4Hi or 4Lo? Should i use a boosted start at 2000rpms? I am going to go buy a bullydog programmer too... should i used the highest HP setting or the tow setting?

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!

I went to a farm type store and bought a good size clevis that goes into my hitch. Construction store would work 2. I removed ball and used the pin that came with the clevis. When i pull i lock my truck in 3rd gear with manual mode. Pull in 4Lo. I used a bully dog power pup my first pull. I used the extreme setting. I also had stock tranny and just an exhaust. Stock tires, so they spun all the way down the track 2 a full pull. I tried boosting up the truck but i couldn't becuz it jus wants 2 go! Theres a lot of torque in 4Lo. But if u have bigger tires then stock i would limit it 2 second gear so ur RPM's go up then kick it into 3rd. It depends on traction.
