I'm gonna make a new hitch for next year. Do i want cold formed steel or hot rolled steel ? Not quite sure of the difference.

I make some really nice adjustable heavy duty reciever/hitchs for pulling if you are interested, tested tough. Have one truck that is pulling the bumper and hitch aprt but not my hitch. PM if you want more info.

Doesn't really matter if it's hot formed or cold formed for what you are doing. You could use either. A low to medium carbon steel will work fine for your hitch. Most readily available will be something like mentioned above, A36, or an A572 GD 50 steel. Good luck with the hitch.

Cold rolled has a higher strength because of the work imparted to it in the "cold" state. Hot rolled is a bit softer and yields more easily.

However, if you take cold rolled and heat it (i.e., welding), then you're back into varying degrees of an annealed state and you've lost some or all of the additional strength you started with.

I personally would go with cold rolled mild steel. Very easy to weld, and you don't have to deal with all the scaley shit found on hot rolled materials.

I just got a roll pan 2 replace my stock bumper. I take it i will need a different hitch cuz it sits flush with the stock bumper. Dont think it would look right sticking out with the roll pan. Am i right???

Use A Tow Beast From Reese But You Will Want To Move It Forward From The Stock Location.

I can make up a hitch so that it goes directly through the hole in the roll pan if you want. If interested PM me.
