well...i almost bought a new TDI VW PAssat this weekend but then the saleman said that they were coming out with a new bodystyle which looks like a cross between Audi(VW in a different skin) and a Volvo...anyways...so come May of 2005 i will be buying a new one but i am hoping they come out with a manual trans behind it instead of the Tiptronic auto trans because my gf's little 01 golf GTI 1.8T 5spd will smoke this car.....so

moral to the story is ...who is putting out injectors for these TDI's and what are they producing for hp? also..anyone have these installed on their own cars that have a real life perspective??

thanks

Have an ordered 2005 loaded Beetle on the way for my wife's daily commute.

Car is built waiting for VIN# to be sent to dealer and then wait for it to arrive.

I too am wondering as well what will be available.........The wait was because no 5 speed manual cars were available........

So if anyone knows.........please chime in.........

The wife wants it chipped ASAP..........

No. Only the 03 TDI. I am not sure if anyone offers anything for the new motors yet.

Check out www.tdiclub.com (http://www.tdiclub.com/)

I hope you guys have better luck with the VW dealers then I do. -:t

Our 03 Jetta is still well under warranty. I found it wasn't starting as well as it used to so I asked them to check the glow plugs, and explained why I wanted them to do it. So they checked the glow plugs and none were bad. They tried to charge me $100 for removing and testing each individual glow plug! Boy did it get ugly! In the end they covered it but not without a fight. They said, had I asked for them to check why it wasn't starting well and not specifically asked to have the glow plugs checked, it would have been covered under warranty. This is one of a few issues I've had with the service dept. I also was not very happy with the sales dept but they were better then the other VW dealer in town.

I am pretty sure this will be my first and last VW.

You'll want to contact KERMA as he has the best product and best reputation. The new PD injectors are close to be released if not released already. The preliminary #'s on the injectors are supposed to be very good. Here's his link:

http://www.kermatdi.com/

Supposedly the PD's are very accomodating to HP improvements. You also might want to consider a chip instead of injectors as Rocketchip's 2+ chip on the PD100 dynos at 150HP.

www.rocketchip.com

Those things are quick with tuning.

www.tdiclub.com > performance tuning....read up.

Way more hands on type tuning than with the trucks.

What is it? PD with a 5 speed stick?

Injectors first or head to a chip? Straight pipe?

Landuyt sells a CAT filter for it.

2005 - Bettle - 5 speed.........

Wife is already bugging me to chip it........):h

First Mod is going to be 2um CAT Filter conversion and the CCV mod for soot free intake driving..........

After that I will be looking for a spare ECM and a reflash or chip.

Need to start hanging around the TDI forums more.........unless Steve Cole wants to write some code.............

Will be interesting to see how the CAT filter fiits in there.........

I had a HELL of a time getting the damn thing to stop leaking air. The banjo fittings need something like 70 lb ft of torque on them to seal it up.

What are you doing with the CCV? There are about 10 ways to go about dealing with it. I opted for a device called an eclipse canister. It collects the oil coming through, and I drain it every few thousand miles. There are many other ways though.......I hope you dont just let it vent......

Good luck with it, Im sure youll be able to soon tell all of us how much power the clutch will hold......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif

RC stage two (chip only) made something like 270 lb ft. But from the reviews Ive heard, the clutch started to slip after a few thousand miles.....Clutch is expensive.

Maybe after the winter spare PD ECUs won't be so hard to come by. I was considering an RC for my '04 PD/Tip, but after talking to Jeff at Rocketchip, he says he'll loan an ECU in the event you need to take vehicle in for warranty issues. He claims the dealer can't detect the new program with diagnostics. It seems like a bit of a gamble.

Test was done by Shawn at Kinetic Motorsports on Tuesday Feb 02 2005 There are no other modifications done to the vehicle. I will be doing more dyno testing on VW TDI automatics, Sprinter Vans etc. I will post all results here. Joe

Wow. Im suprised the clucth didnt slip. What was the tq number?

I guarantee the clutch wont last long at all with power levels like that.

Smoke?

Ops. Looks like about 250 lb ft. Musta been an aftermarket clutch....? The TDIclub seems to have found a limit of 210 ft lb if you want your clutch to last.

I wonder if the PD clutch is the same as the 90 horse TDI clutch..............(sachs)

It is still the stock clutch, so far it has lasted the 300 miles that is the total on the car. The weather has been wet and lousy so I haven't been able to apply the power yet. When the clutch fails I will upgrade it. I have seen mayn clutches fail on vehicles that are stock. The torque maxed out at 262 lbs ft and 165.4 HP I did a total of seven runs with two being baseline without the box. They both came up at 109 HP. I have a detailed sheet that shows exact figures of HP, TORQUE, AMBIENT TEMP, RPM, BOOST ETC. Iwill work on posting those to this site also. It is quite interesting to look at. Joe

Seems like your PD makes more HP, and less TQ than other TDI's Ive seen.

How is the turbo holding up? Does it spike or hold boost well? Have you looked into getting a bigger turbo for it? Do a search on the TDIclub for a PD 150.

IIRC the highest TQ # Ive seen for the TDI's was something like 375 wft lb, and 180 whp.

Oh, what were your EGT's?

DmaxTDI
02-07-2005, 05:01 PM
The baseline HP is higher than expected for a 100HP PD and the % increase is way over the advertised 30% bump. Things that make you go hmmmm.

I am not sure what the EGT was, I did not have my laptop and Vag Com. I am going back this Monday the 14th with more cars to dyno. 3 auto Jetta PD TDI'S 1 5 speed and a Sprinter Van. I will check all with Vag Com and repost.
I am told that the Kinetic Motorsports dyno does read 10% high but I am still ok with 150HP and 240LBS FT torque. I am going to do no further mods on the car (with the exception of the clutch) So I can display my product as being the only mod. Thank You. Joe
