Hello i have a 2002 duramax/allison and it is time to change the spin on filter can i use the new dexron fluid and will mix well with the dexton III that is in the trans now or do i have to replace all the fluid in the trans

It'll be fine,thats less than a quart.If you decide to drain it,get 8 or 9 quarts of synthetic and your tranny will thank you for it.It mixes fine with Dexron to boot!

Absolutely you can mix DEX VI with the older DEX III. Just don't try to use DEX III in a DEX VI system.
For a top off when adding the filter, if you're NOT changing the fluid, why not use the DEX III anyway? It will cost less than the DEX VI for just needing one quart.
If you change your mind and decided to do the whole fluid route, then one of the TES-295 clones is an excellent option.
