: Juice & Attitude lockout for higher programs
chrisms31 11-28-2004, 02:44 AM First awesome forum and i'm learning alot!! I just installed my juice and attitude and totally amazed what a little computer tuning can do.
Problem is my parents. Still live under their roof and they keep stealing the keys to my duramax. My fathers' 2500HD Yukon XL and its 8.1L aren't as impressive as he once thought. Especially after i took him for a ride with the juice.):h
Since the edge is a computer can't higher settings be "locked out" so people that didn't buy it don't break it. I don't really wish to replace a trans anytime soon. Not all the programs just 4 and 5. Anybody thought of this themselves or am i alone in this thinking?
Max Power 11-28-2004, 03:17 AM You could unplug it. That is pretty much all you can do with the juice. There is no lock out of any kind built in.
Carbon04 11-28-2004, 09:53 AM put it on the setting of your choice and unplug the attitude cable.............it will be stuck there until the cable is plugged in or until the "manual rythum" is done.
Got Juice? 11-28-2004, 10:55 AM set the EGT backdown to its lowest setting, low boost fuelling to max..... once they hit WOT in 3rd gear.... they will only have stock power.
chrisms31 11-28-2004, 12:44 PM so my mom will be doing smoky burnouts going to the post office box?
She has a DHS caddy i keep trying to tell her that the tires are eventually going to rot from lack of use. I've been trying to park at the end of the driveway so they can get their cars out. Works 75% of the time.
Maxter 11-28-2004, 12:46 PM What they said... good sugestions. I just want to point out that this guy wants to lockout HIS IRRESPONSABLE PARENTS from fooling around with his DMAX. LMAO... That's a first.
chrisms31 11-28-2004, 12:48 PM put it on the setting of your choice and unplug the attitude cable.............it will be stuck there until the cable is plugged in or until the "manual rythum" is done.
Carbon--w/ the attitude unplugged won't all the backdown settings be ignored since the ecm doesn't know their there?
I guess i'll have to do what GOT JUICE said... ...or buy a house. Its tough though i keep spending money on my duramax.
baimpala 11-29-2004, 12:05 AM Just tell them, if they upgrade your tranny, you'll be happy to let them drive it around on level 5 all the time. . .
ratlover 11-29-2004, 10:47 AM Cant you just turn it down? they arnt going to turn it up on you if you tell em not to would they? if so then juices recomendation is the best, or set it to level 1 and yank your attitude, its a mother to set levels without it. IMO though its best not to do a bunch of bouncing around on power levels as it is a bit confusting to the ally. IMO uless they are towing the juice set to 90 hp is safe from a trany and egt standpoint. Only problem may be driving in the rain or something like that or just the fact the juice can get you in troubel in a hurry if you dont know how to drive.
cdhd2001 11-29-2004, 12:44 PM Hey, if I still lived at home I would have the same problem! Have enough trouble with dad now and he lives 150 miles away!
chrisms31 11-30-2004, 01:18 AM maxter,
For 5 months i couldn't find my second set of keys... ...my father had the set on his keyring. Then grinned ear to ear when i found them.:D He goes "oops, uh thought they were mine, he he."
chrisms31 11-30-2004, 01:22 AM baimpala,
brought up your idea about the tranny upgrade... ...they laughed and dad reminded me about the time i ripped the passenger mirror off their caddy pulling it in the garage when i was 15. Oh well, worth the shot.
McRat 11-30-2004, 03:46 PM Just ask nicely.
turnpike 11-30-2004, 08:40 PM Like the idea of being able to de-rate engine and trany. So co-workers wouldn't be able to "See what she'll do" at -30F cold start and go. Currently keep key in my pocket.
Turnpike.
