You should always use a jam nut. Otherwise the threads could wear prematurely.;)

they have a spot where you can put a 1" wrench. and i could not get them to thread on all the way. i needed 32 turns and could only get 25 and they hit the shoulder up near where the tie rod connects to the steering stuff. thats why i was wondering if the jam nut was needed.

Not needed if your using a sleeve, the sleeve will act as a jam nut.

How did you guys not using the jam nut set your toe? The only way I could figure out how to turn the inner tie rod was to lock the sleeve against the jam nut.

Just saw this..... installed my SDs today and used the sleeve acting as the jam nut. What would you do with the jam nut.... go TRE, Jam Nut, Sleeve? Not necessary.
