I want to get a EGT gauge installed before I tow. Does anyone have a suggested brand/model? I am looking at the Autometer Cobalt series. Any input on those? I lookes for reviews, but couldn't find any. I plan on also installing a boost gauge later, and will want to use a matching style, whatever I get.
Also, would dealers give me flack about having gauges (that really should have been there from the factory such as EGT and boost)?
Thanks in advance for your input

I have the Cobalt EGT and Boost gauges in my truck. Took me about 2 hours total time to install. They are great visibility in the dark and in daylight. I mounted mine on a dual A-piller mount. I really like the blue effect it gives out. Autometer also has a new style out that gives the user a lot of options with the gauge. Different colors in one gauge, record memory and alarms.
Adding any of these types of items will only aid your control of your vehicle. The warrenty can not be voided for installing these items. The only way they can void or make a fuss is if you install the gauges your self or maybe someone else and have problems later on with the electrical or any thing that is associated with the item. Make sure you follow the directions and use fuses to protect the system. Money may be an issue but I would bite the bullet and get all the gauges you want now and install them at the same time. This will make the installation a lot easier. Tearing into the A-piller (if you are using that) can be a pain after it is already in place.
Also I drilled a 1" hole in the firewall just below the hood and close to the middle. There is a perfect spot for this. Use the rubber gromet to protect the wires.
I am looking at changing the dash lights to same color becuase I like how much brighter they are than the stock form.

Boost an EGT are the obvious gauges to get... What should I get for the third one? the truck already has trans temp, coolant and oil presure, which are reasonably accurate.

I run ISSPRO gauges that I picked up from John Kennedy. He's a supporting vendor here on the forum.
He sells a complete kit and it was less then buying the cobalt's.
They match fairly well with the stock IP in our trucks.
Just another option.

Cougar,
I installed the Autometer Lunar series gauges in the A-pillar. I have a pyro, boost and an engine oil temp (tranny temp gauge used for engine oil temp, since an engine oil temp gauge isn't available in the Lunar series.) I love the green glow and the easy viewing in any light.
I think a triple pod looks more "complete", and I like to monitor as much as possible with the engine.

Cougar281 (http://dieselplace.com/forum/member.php?u=3721),
We have the Cobalts as well as all the other Auto Meter gauges, plus the A pillars with and without the tweeter hole locations. A new item we just got is a factory pre built wiring harness that includes all the little parts and pieces that completes the installation without having to make 3 trips to the hardware store for stuff you didn't know you needed. We also have steering column mounts and soon we will have an overhead mount that goes above your windshield mounted mirror. Great visibility and out of the way too!
Your dealer shouldn't give you a hard time about gauges as all, but then they are a dealer too so who knows. Give us a call and we will be glad to answer your questions.

The Cobalts look really nice in the dark, but I don't really like them during the day. . . which is most of the time I'm driving the truck. . .

I went with autometer phantom series. http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?target=esearch.asp&N=110&Ntk=KeywordSearch&Ntt=pyrometer+gauge&x=0&y=0
I prefer the white background during the day. At night you can have either a red or green backlight. The red matches well with the stock lights and looks cool too.
