The check engine light came on. Pulled the code and it was a P0234 - Overboost?

What does this mean? Once reset will the truck be fine or have I done some permanent damage.

I was using a Level 3 on the Hypertech, pulling a 10,500 lb trailer. I had just gotten to the last 20 miles of a 600 mile trip when it happened.

Never threw an over boost with the stock turbo but i saw overboost codes daily with my HTturbo daily before I disabled code on EFILive and have seen no carnage yet.

Most likely just a result of tuner and heavy load. You should be fine.

you can overboost the stock turbo, it throws the code at around 36lb of boost. I had a similar experience towing up some mountains moving to cali on extreme up a long pull I just stomped it and flew up to the top and threw that code too. anyhow the stock turbo wont hold much over 30lb of boost but the motor will hold in upwards of 50lb before you need stronger head studs. so no worries man just make sure you let everything cool before you shut her down. I idle for 3-5min on average. Also if you dont need the power turn the programmer down 1 or 2 settings. Hope this helps. -Justin

Thanks guys, you are giving me some peace of mind. I usually tow on level 2 but didn't want to take the time to re-program before I left. I reset the code and it seems fine now.

i really shouldnt have to worry about pulling a 3500lbs enclosed with quads inside, with my hypertech on stage 3? or should i turn it down to #2?

I wouldn't think that small of a trailer would be an issue. You should be fine. I was pulling a trailer almost 3X that and it only happened in the last 20 miles of a 600+ mile trip.
