Hey Mad. I put a deep pan on a while back. Just exactly what are ya reffering to "filter loc..? is that the strip (bout 1/2" wide 16 ga. SSteel), runs across the valve body and that holds the pan up by any chance.? just curious....

rgds,

Yep, it basically keeps it from dropping down out of the hole it plugs into.

Go To: kennedydiesel.com > Transmission > chevy/gmc > allison 1000 > misc. parts > scroll down and you'll see it.

I'm taking a road trip down to FL in a month and wanna tackle all the possible problem areas before I leave. I don't wanna be dropping the Tranny Pan on the side of I-95 because the Filter fell down :(

...and I stocked up on Fuel Filters too :)

Amazing what the internet can do. People worried about problems that don't exist. People, just because you wasted 20 bucks don't keep swearing to everyone on the internet that they need one. YOU DON'T!!!

After running the Allison 1000 in pickup trucks for 8 years now. Don't you think Allison would do something different if the filters really "dropped out of the hole it plugs into"?

...Well when I was under changing the Filter out to the one for the Deep Pan...the one for the Deep Pan obviously has a longer neck on it than the one for the Shallow Pan...with that being said, it wiggles and flops around ALOT more than the one for the Shallow Pan.

How often do you need to change the coat hanger that keeps your hood closed? I am betting that twisting it back and forth more than 3 times will cause you to go back in the closet for another one. Am I close?:D

I get the feeling as if...... you 'really' are into your tranny.... it is a real good idea, but if your just a 'poser' forget it..... regardless... while your in there 20$ I think was stated.... sure is a lot cheaper in the long run if that "just if" happens..... LOOK OUT THERE BEHIND YOU AGAIN...:)

I really just spent a couple minutes with my hands on my chin trying to figure out wtf you are talking about.

I used a rubber strap on the pulling truck before, never wore out. but still doesn't explain how your post has anything to do with the topic or why we should buy filter loks?

I'm lost

I think us owners can decide if we need the lock or not.

I have wasted a lot more than $20, on a lot of things I don't really need.

The need for the filter Loc has been explained before and I think everyone has made up their mind wether they will buy one or not. What I don't understand is your obsession to save the membership from ( in your mind ) losing 20 bucks.
My comment about the coat hanger was just a little ribbing because you can't close the hood on your truck.:D

Quick buck,

I can't close it because of the turbo loc

I would hate to have it fly away and never return. Cheap insurance, the downside is just the hood not closeing.

Stock filter stock pan- WILL NOT fall out
Deep filter deep pan WILL NOT fall out
Deep filter ATS Cast pan - WILL NOT fall out

Can't speak for wrong combinations or poorly engineered deep pans(i believe where this whole issue came from) but it just seems cheaper to put the right filter with the right pan. No Problems.

Due to the turbo loc only allowing the hood to go to the secondary hood latch slot there is a risk of the hood flying up and blocking your view.

I have Hood Loc's in stock as well. Triple Hood Loc's coming soon.

How will I make my quick 5 bucks profit if I admit we do not need the filter loc? I have to sell 2 of them just to buy a beer nowadays. :( Is there more profit in your unlatchable hood loc? Might get some complaints on that since most of my customers prefer to close their hoods all the way.:D
