www.campingworld.com do a search for Hadley. The ones I have are the Ambassadors, and they are awesome. The kit comes with a compressor, tank, and accessory hose. . . You'll like 'em.

What is a good place to mount them under the hood?

I didn't mount them under the hood, but in front of the right rear tire. They easily fit inside that empty space. They are still PLENTY loud, in the cab you can only barely hear the stock horns if you're listening for them, and other cars can hear them easily. . .

If you want some pics, let me know.

I was wondering when you were getting your real horn. I have a set of K5's in the back seat of my truck right now.

I don't know if that little tank will do them justice Dennis.

I plan on running something very similar to what you have going, Hoot. I have the Graham White valve, and the horns, now I just need to get a regulator, mount up a tank and plumb the lines. That little tank I have for the Hadleys wouldn't last a second with the K5s.

I just put air to the horns this evening, and only one of the five sounded, (the lowest note). I took the back cap off the highest note and cleaned it just a little and got it to sound, now, too. Two down three to go (need to get back to the books), but I am going to take them completely apart and clean them really well. They are FILTHY. I can't even put them on MY truck, they're so dirty. The o-rings look to be brand new, and the internals all look to be in very good mechanical condition, just dirty. I can't tell if someone tried to paint them black, or if that is just a solid layer of soot baked and rained on. Well, it will be a good project for the weekend. . . I can't wait until they're sounding good. . . I'm all giddy. . . .this is going to be awesome!

I just picked up a pristine set last week. Thay are practically brand new. The K3's I have on my truck were filthy too. That crap is hard to clean off.

What did you use? . . . I was thinking diesel might take it off. . . and some elbow grease. . . These things have definitely seen some serious service.

Diesel or kero works but it takes scrubbing. Last set I sold I painted with paint remover and pressure washed it, twice. Painted it afterward with self-etching primer and a top coat.

I'll give that a shot if the Diesel won't take it off. . .

Thanks,

First off, Hoot & Baimpala, Welcome to the K5 club:ro)

Dennis,

I used Purple Power degreaser and took them up to the car wash. About $5.00 later they looked brand new. HINT: Wear old pants and shoes

DONT SAND OR BEAD BLAST THEM. It will change the tone of the horns. <O:p</O:p

You can get new diaphragms and seals for the Nathan's Air Chimes on e-bay pretty cheap. Luckly, mine worked fine right out of the box.

I have a 6 gallon tank that does great! Surprisingly, they dont need a lot of air but air at a higher pressure. I'm still running mine at 120 - 130 psi and working VERY WELL.

Anyone give thought to mounting a Grover Stuttertone (Firetruck) Horn under the hood...I mean directly to the hood, underneath...I wonder if there is room for it. :D

I can attest to the fact that they are loud. Not knowing he had them, he asked me to raise the hood and then he let her rip.

Guess who`s now out of the will.

You know, that's dangerous. These horns are designed to be loud and can do permanant damage. I can be out in my garage and hear the trains 10 miles away.

I'm surprised you didn't stuff him into the engine compartment and shut the hood. Scaring me like that would make me start looking for a weapon.

Well, the next time your daughter mentions that she chats with strangers online that insist they are a Brad Pitt double, show her what she is really chatting with . . . (worked for my daughter!).
