....for a guy on an extreme budget? I'm not looking for 250 watt, 100 or 130 will do.

I'd like something in black with a stone cover to attach to my new bumper.

I've seen lamps in the $300 price range, but I don't have that to spend.

Any ideas on a good set of budget priced lights?

(You can see my bumper in my Garage)

Thanks!

Personally I like the KC day lighters, but there are some you can get from autozone for about 50 bucks that have 100watt H-3 bulbs in them

I was just searching around and looking at the 130 Watt KC Daylighters #631. I've found them for about $100.

They don't look bad - any comments on these lights, or any other KC lights in the same price range?

I got mine from Jagged Extreme in phoenix az. they are 8.5" HID's and if you any sort of night off roading or long night driving on empty roads i would DEFINITELY recommend doing HID's. Mine run about 300 a piece but i beleive the 6"ers are around 250. They are Eagle Eye's by the way

Those are pretty sweet, but too pricey for me. :( I know, you get what you pay for, but I don't do much off roading.

If you go with the KC's, I highly recommend the stainless housings as the black ones will rust. The set on my S10 are over 7 years old and except for the mounting bolts, look like new.

You might also consider LightForce. They have 3 different sizes (I have the 240's - see pics in my garage), and offer many features. The beams are adjustable like a Maglite Flashlight, the covers/lenses are polycarbonate and will withstand a shotgun blast, and you can buy different color filters for them.

I had the Hella Black Magic's for a little while and was very disappointed in them. If I was in the market again, I would look hard at the Warn dual beam lights. Not sure about the cost though, but they look good.

What was disappointing about them? I was considering adding those lights with a behind the grill mount, but don't want to waste my time and money if it is not worth it.

Hella 500. I had 4 of them on my 02. Great and way thinner than the KCs so they mount easyer.

Try a EBAY search if you dont mind mildly used. I was on an extreme budget at the time when I got mine. I got 4 KC's for like $80 which were brand new, in the package. Thats not to say they didn't fall off the back of a truck somewhere and why they were so cheap. If you find a good deal on some lights with not the strongest wattage, you can always get a new light kit to replace the bulbs. Just an idea.

The BlackMagic's are light, thin, and plastic. However, they are not very bright, the bulbs didn't handle vibrations well because they had to be replaced often and the lenses get fogged up because the plastic housings don't seal very well. Just my opinion, I'm sure there is someone out there who has had them and they are brighter than HID's, never fogged, and lit up a stadium for the final quater of a high school football game when the power went out.

Don't have a story quite that good, but I installed a pair on my brother's F-150 and they have worked great. They are wired into the high beams with an additional switch to cut them off if he just wants the highs alone. The lights have been submerged in water, been beaten pretty good offroad, and light up enough area to allow us to throttle down some rough farm roads at ~55mph. Maybe you just got a bad set, or the ride difference between his 1/2 ton and your 3/4 ton was enough of of a difference to rattle something loose. But who knows.

I have the KC daylighters, so far i have no complaints at all. I ended up getting the chrome ones. They seems high quality. I wired mine into the factory fog light button so theres no extra switches in the cab,

Running 4 PIAA's. So far been quite happy with them. They are pricey though. I prefer amber for incliment weather and a bit different look.

They've held up quite well but I'am melting fuses. Not blowing the 15amp fuse, melting it. Its probably because I'm running 130 watt Hella bulbs in there.

Interesting contrasting opinions. Thought they looked pretty stealthy, but i don't want to buy and bother installing a POS. Hmmm - I have some thinking to do. Thanks for your feedback.

i just put a set of the kc daylighters on my truck this is the second pair i have bought. I had a set on my old ford that i totaled. The only thing i dont like is that the new daylighters are 285,000 candle power and the old ones were 385,000 candle power. either way they are bright lights and i like mine alot. The wiring has been redun so it is just a plug and play set up.
