When I have any program downloaded to my truck it has a louder dieseling noise than without the powerpup. It sounds like an older 6.5 diesel. Does anyone know why it does this or what makes it do this?
I took the powerpup off of it and it sounds a whole lot better. But, I love the performance of leaving it on. :ro)
Thanks for any help, George

Any tuner/box that increases timing will make the clatter more noticeable, but timing is what helps mileage, so what to do?

with the power pup on the LLY, there is no way around it. it will sound like crap til it gets warmed up, usually about 160*, atleast on mine anyway. ive spoken to phillip at BD who programs them and its basically the timing causing this noise until the engine gets warmer, and supposedly doesnt hurt anything. i was laughing at your last comment abuot liking it soo much that you dont want to remove it, as i pretty much feel the same way, im stacking with the edge and there isnt another programmer that stacks as nice so im just dealing with it thru the cold and until a new tuner becomes available that puts out 120hp

t bone, notice you have predator also. ihave the j/a and want to eliminate speed control. do you have a preference of bd power pup, or predator. iam leaning toward predator. i want a little more low end plus power in colder than 180 engine. your 2 cents would be appreciated. thanks nelson

i personally like the all around of the BD over the predator, not saying the predator is bad, i just prefer the BD if i had to choose. all in all, they both have their own pros and cons - BD is smooth, shifts are good, power is good and it stacks well, only down side is the cold engine noise. The predator has some flairs with shifting and the shifting in general isnt as smooth but other than that no other flaws, and it stacks just as well. you cant go wrong with either one. they will both give you much more bottom end and adjust for tires & remove top speed. the one thing the predator does which the others dont is give you real time date and diagnostics of the engine, etc, which is very nice, you can check out all kinds of stuff with it
