: TTS Extreme
sp33d 11-27-2004, 12:48 AM Finally managed to get the Extreme (had it nearly a month now) and all I can say is WOW! It was definitely worth the two month wait. There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said.
The power delivery in Extreme mode is constant and EXTREME from the time you hit the pedal til you start to slow down (at say, 120mph). It smokes a little too :) I honestly didn't know the Suncoast could shift this fast! I've been using the JK Van Aken for about the last six months and it has very good power but for some reason, it just doesn't want to shift well. I'll have both on a Mustang dyno in the next week or two and post some numbers for comparision but they both make huge hp. The TTS wins for performance hands down though as it shifts soooo much better than the Van Aken box.
It's very difficult to drive around in Extreme due to the instant power and the amount of smoke (bigger injectors don't help matters). Even giving it minimal throttle at a stop light it lurches so hard it will chirp the tires... Just too aggressive for daily driving in my opinion. However, get it in the open and hold on. Being able to switch on the go is definitely a must have for a box of this nature. With my larger injectors, the 80hp tow tune is my daily driver. Only a small puff of smoke and I get every bit as much power as I want in a daily driver. The tow program definitely helps burn the extra fuel those bigger injectors are letting loose.
I'll post some dyno numbers in a couple weeks. For now, thanks Steve for encouraging my habit!
Super Diesel 11-27-2004, 01:01 AM I told you it was worth the wait.
Diesel Power 11-27-2004, 02:26 AM i agree. it works better than anything i've tried... it realls shines in the torque department. i only wish i had a bigger turbo to help burn all that smoke... at least there's canned air!

motovet 11-28-2004, 01:40 AM Mine could make it before Christmas..........oh yeah.
fredw 11-28-2004, 01:46 AM just lookingg at the tts site it says
Q: Can the car be programmed back to stock?
A: You would have to take it to a dealership, or send the ECM to T.T.S.
so if one wants to set the ecm back to stock for some reason, this is not possible, am i reading this correct,it says a 30 trial period, but what happens if you do not want it, are you stuck sending the ecm back down their as well!!

You never know what kind of info could be stored in the ECM, certain high values could be used against you at the worst time.
So having a "virgin" ECM has it's advantages. :)
fredw 11-28-2004, 05:10 AM thanks trip, that makes sense, by the way if i do this how much is a stock ecm
Diesel Power 11-28-2004, 07:25 AM contact Diesel Tech about the ECM pricing.. i have a spare as well...
GMC-2002-Dmax 11-28-2004, 08:01 AM I went the spare ECM route as well..........I am thinking about having my stocker reflashed to virgin status.........so no traces of anything remain...........
sdaver 11-28-2004, 10:14 AM I have a spare also but it seems to be lost:(
Jim659 11-28-2004, 12:49 PM Does anyone know if you can buy the ECM from TTS and have them program that one and then just do the switch when it arrives and then just keep your original?

I think that is what McRat did with the TTS tow tune :D

ratlover 11-29-2004, 10:12 AM Maybe its the injectors??? I find mine very drivable? It does take some getting used to but after I have drove with it I am able to drive it pretty norrmaly. Extreme is my daily setting(well i warm up in 80 and use 80 on the highway) but I dont have any problems putting around town with it set to kill.
Fingers 11-29-2004, 10:56 AM "he we"???? ):h
