I'm looking into a trans upgrade and one of the shops I talked to suggested that I go with (2) trans coolers in line instead of a deeper pan. Is this a better setup? They also insinuated that the Suncoast product is a series of parts put together from different manufacturers in a package to be called a Suncoast product. Is this true?

If I was only going to do one upgrade I would do the cooler. I think it would be more effective at cooling than the deep pan. It does take longer to for the tranny to heat up with a deep pan, but it also takes longer for it to cool back down. I don't know who makes the components in a suncoast kit, but if they do outsource I'm sure the components are built to there specs and are of very good quality.

I would rather do both but I would suggest the cooler first. A Mike L cooler will do all you need in the factory location with factory lines. You can't go wrong with Suncoast or ATS parts IMO.

Another do both - the deep steel pan from Allison is CHEAP. But if I was only going to do one, DO THE MIKE L. COOLER - not any cooler, but Mikes. It is far and away the best cooling product out there, and any idiot can install it. I've been told Mike has sheep that can install it in under 15 minutes. I've spent WAY too much money on cheaper products over the past 40 years trying to do the same thing, and nothing has ever come close to Mike's cooler. I give it the highest recommendation I could ever give a product. He must have had one of his ewes design it for him cause it works better than he talks. LOL

DEF. do the Cooler first...I did the deep pan, and all it really did was take the Tranny longer to warm up, but overall I saw mayyybe only a 5 degree drop from my previous "highest temp."

...BUT!!...On a cold night, I did notice when cruising on the Highway, it'll start to slowly but surely lower the Temp. faster than it did with the Stock Pan on there.

I agree with Mad Maxx. My deep pan dropped my temps maybe 10*, but with the Mike L. cooler I have dropped about 30-35* and I pull a 14K pound 5th wheel. Don't waste your time or money on anything but the Mike L. cooler, it really works.

the cooler if you tow big.
the parts suncoast use are alto clutches. the best racing clutches out there. and they make the rest of the components themselves.

Do both. The stamped steel pan, filter and filter loc will add a whopping $100 to the price tag.
