We are currently traveling through FL for the Winter and I would like to be able to have my truck receive it's 15,000 mile maintenance. Had trouble enough finding a dealer in my own state that was dependable and could be trusted. Trying to do that in a strange part of the country is almost impossible. It's like trying to find a doctor by looking in the yellow pages! Anyone have any experience with any dealers in the Pensacola/Panama City area of FL??? I'm willing to travel 100 miles or more if necessary to find a good one! Thanks!!!

If you get to the Tallahassee area get your dealer work done at University Chevrolet on the East side of town. Get ahold of service advisor Louie. They have always done good on any warranty work and are the least expensive in town when it comes to lube and oil, the regular maintenance stuff, etc.

aka1108,
Actually, we'll be going right "through" Tallahasee on our way to Navarre. It's probably a little far from where we'll end up, but I appreciate the suggestion. However, in the event I do seek out Louie at University Chevrolet, do you know how they feel about working on GMC's? I know GMC/Chevy trucks are essentially the same, but there has been a lot of discussion about some GMC/Chevy dealers not wanting to cross over to work on trucks that don't have the badging that they sell.
sdaver,
Your reply is a little puzzeling to me! Is Suncoast a dealer or the same Suncoast that is part of your sig? Can't find any info on a Suncoast GMC dealer. Also, your comment, "He's got a local one"-a local what???
Found a dealer in Panama City, FL called Lloyd Automotive that sells GMC's. Anyone with any experience with them or any others in the area?

I live not far from Pensacola, so I plan on using Webb Pontiac GMC on Hwy29 in whats known as car city, I asked around before I bought my ride and everyone recommended them, and a couple months ago I stopped in and talked to their 3 diesel mechanic, two of them were older fellows who have been working on diesels for a long time, and the younger kid seemed pretty knowledgeable about the Duramax engines, another thing I liked about them, is they do a lot of work on the locale delivery trucks that have the D/A in them, so at least they have some experience.

Hey EEEEEZY--Don't think University Chevrolet will mind doing paid for maintenance on the GMC. Warranty work they won't do but would refer you to Proctor GMC about a mile from them. All I can say for Proctor GMC is that they are the reason I purchased Chevrolet.

BuckeyeQuicky,
That's exactly what I was hoping for-
A GMC dealer that has a good reputation;
A dealer that has some experienced techs who know something about working on these things;
A dealer that a member has been to and talked to the techs;
A dealer who does local service for other local companies!
Although the only dealer in Pensacola I found any info on was Vince Whibbs and, although I was unable to find any info on Webb Pontiac, GMC in Pensacola, I am going to check on them when I get to that area tomorrow. Thanks very much for the info!
aka108,
Thanks for the update on University. If things don't work out anywhere else and I can't find a closer dealer, I'll keep University in mind.
Thanks to all of you. Finding really good service on these things, especially when traveling, can be a difficult job!
