OK I am trying a Predator v2.0 for a bit thanks to some cool people I know along with the awesome people they know.
First impressions: power is great on 85hp tune but the shifting sucks donkey nuts compared to my ppe. I just loaded it today but even when i changed tunes with my ppe it still didn't shift that bad. I know I know I have to give it some time to learn and I WILL.

On my way home from buddy's house after truck was cooled down I got my CEL on. I checked it and it was my egr crap. I did unplugged the egr when it wass cold about 1.5 months ago but never threw a code with the PPE but the predator had 4 of them within a mile of running. I will plug it back in in the morning, but why didn't throw the code with the PPE and now it does with the predator? whats the deal with that. Maybe the 2.02V is different because I don't see the egr delete with this version that everyone talks about.

Well more driving will result in more on this thread so if anyone has any input feel free to post it.

Other great news my Bilstiens are finally installed and the ride is awesome. of course 2 of my stock shocks were broken.

well another set of egr codes under high acceleration. 2 were for the egr valve s**t again and one was P1093 which I found out thru PPE awhile ago was low fuel pressure. Umm I like the power but really the shifting better catch up or its out. It feels like it defuels each shift only alot longer than my ppe and the edge that used for short time. Is there something I should be doing that I may not be doing?

It took my trans longer to learn than most have said but shifts great now.

I have heard that the trans learns slower with the 2.0 vs. the 2.02 (I've only used the 2.02).

I would like to see how this turns out for you Kramer. I am torn between getting the PPE or the Predator. I am mainly wanting the programmer for towing and a little power around town.

2.02 adds boost and also blocks the EGR code. I haven't tried the 2.0 but can say that my tranny didn't take all that long to relearn using the 2.02. I've never used the PPE so can't really comment on the differences.

I dont think the 2.02 adds any boost at all. Someone did a write up on it direct from Diablo Sport.

V2.02 definitely shifts better than V2.0.

Heres a pretty good write up

I bought my PPE for towing my camper because of the fast tranny re-learn and the supposedly smooth shifts. Which they really don't lie at all it does learn fast and yes is it even smooth in the 120 tune during learning mode. This predator 2.0 really isn't what i figured it would be so I knocked it down to 65 tune and the shifting is way better but still hasn't learned yet. I was towing yesterday and the tow/haul mode really sucked. Everytime it shifted it over revved by about 200rpm at each shift.(meaning that when it shifted the tranny was out of gear and the engine was still climbing in rpm, almost like it was slipping). I guess i needed to try the 2.02 predator to really get excited about it but yes so far I like the power but the tranny stuff i just hate that.
Right now I am kinda biased on the ppe because and only because I ran it all summer with nothing wrong. It also seems to be smoother as well but the new predators they say are not like that. We will see in the future what it brings me.
Does the predator take this long to learn each time you change tunes?

v2.0 really dates itself. I think it came out sooner than it should have, hence the v2.02. And you will have those pesky 4 EGR codes unless you get the fingerstick to go with it, but you need to plug the EGR back on and block it. The boost stick is a real nice add on to the V2.0 as the v2.02 is supposed to add boost to reduce the high EGT numbers that the beta users were seeing. People with the v2.0 can upgrade for the cost of shipping as long as they have a receipt and can afford to be without the programmer during the turn around time. With my v2.0, I have it set up really nice. The tow tune, boost stick, and fingerstick all work pretty well together to bring it to the v2.02 capabilities, maybe a lot better with the extra boost. The tranny shifting thing is an issue and I have found it is easier to step into a higher tune instead of going straight from stock to 85 hp and expecting the tranny to pick it up quickly. The trans needs to learn as well in T/H mode, so be sure to have that learned before towing. I'll keep my v2.0, but maybe because I don't know what else is out there... :)

i think its because the predator doesnt block the egr signals like the ppe does. i ran into that problem and traded the pred for the ppe standard.
like the throttle response of the predator but ppe to me weighs out more than the pred.

well so far I am not really caring for the v2.0 but I will give it a chance I guess. The truck is running rough and the shifting is something to be desired even on the 65 tune. But it will stay there for now until the tranny gets better. It shifts alot better under power now but still needs to hurry if it wants to get up to the PPE trans stuff. Maybe the V2.02 would be a better one to try tho. IDK?

There is a reason why Diablosport upgraded to v 2.02. I could certainly tell an improvement in my truck after upgrading.

Well I totally removed the predator tonight and reloaded my PPE and wow what a difference. Predator power on 85 seemed weaker than the 65 tune did. When I loaded the 85 it loaded and then it said INVALID FORMAT press any key, so I did and it said uploaded completely. Well the powewr was good it threw alot of codes everytime I punched it. The shifting is still the same so I unloaded the tuner and reloaded PPE and everything sseemed to smooth out.
I am sorry for you predator dudes but the V2.0 is not for me. I am willing to try the V2.02 for the sake of the fuss you throw over the predator being so good. Evry truck is different and they all respond different than others so I like my PPE in my truck, maybe because I have ran it for the summer without no problems and am just used to it.

Sorry guys and a great thanks to all involved in me trying the tuner and maybe someday I will try a V2.02 to see if the upgrade was a good one or not but until i see the 2.02 I am back to PPE.

V2.02 is WAY smoother than the V2.0 and tranny learns much faster. I cant compare to the PPE cause I haven't tried it. But I do know about v2.02 vs v2.0
