anyone come up with a good way to shed some soft light on the center console? when driving in a dark area, you can't see anything on there, and turning on the map lights ruins your night vision. My wife's BMW has some slick fiber optics in the headliner that keep the console lit with a dim amber glow. I don't need anything that fancy, but something would be nice, even if it plugs into the power outlet right above the console.

I've seen some flex lights that plug into the cigar lighter.

If you want light on all the time, you can install a small LED into the overhead console so it shines down on the center console...Just wire it up to an ignition source or the panel light circuit.

As an alternate, I installed a bulb cover on one of the map lights ( i used red). You can turn it on and it does not detroy your night vision

I installed a small blue LED in the overhead console and hooked it to my roof lights. It is directed down at the cup holder area. I did this back in 2004 when I was doing a lot of late night driving and drinking some coffee. I got tired of having to turn on the light to see where the spout was to sip from.

The LED is inside a small piece of black tube. This allowed me to focus it down on the console and kept the LED from being visible otherwise.

Makes no sense, almost every car I have ever owned has had a built in light. Our hondas had an orange one.
