Well today is 2 years since I've gotten my Duramax Allison Crew Cab.

Mileage is around 34,300, 951 hours. In that time I've gone through:

1830 gallons of diesel fuel
15 gallons of motor oil
5 gallons of tranny fluid
23 qts of differential oil
6 oil filters
3 trans filters
2 air filters
3 fuel filters
A ton of various accessories, most notable are my recent juice acquisition(with a big thanks to Mark at Huckstorf Diesel:ro) ) and remote starter.

My favorite part of owning this truck has been the time i've spent at some of the various GTG's talking with a great group of people.

A big thanks to Nick and his admin for making this one of the best diesel sites on the net.

One thing that would be cool to see for the future is a diesel place club. The reason for this is that most motorcycle brands have clubs. One thing most offer is a volunteer register for members. If you're traveling in a certain part of the country and you experience a breakdown, members volunteer to come out to try and assist. Whether it be a flat tire, or a plugged filter you'll find someone in the area that would be willing to assist rather than wondering where I can get X part from in the area. Major breakdowns, sure not much you can do, but sometimes it's just little unexpected things.

Just a thought......

Happy Birthday!!!

Now, how many times did you wash and bath her and finish with a nice polish job??

The reason I went through so much differential fluid is because of an upgrade and a personal boo-boo.

I initially drained and refilled at 7500 miles 4 qts. A few months later I bought a Mag Hytec cover which took another 8 qts. I accidentally bought a syn blend(Citgo's Mystik) vs a full syn which is recommended. When I did the fluid change out on my wifes Trailblazer(it'll be 2 on Saturday and is just over 40,000) I bought enough to cover my rear end again as well.

1st change 7 qts(front and rear), new rear cover 8 qts, changeover to a full syn again another 8 qts = which actually equals 23 so my original math was bad.

Happy Birthday!!!

Now, how many times did you wash and bath her and finish with a nice polish job??I've been through 3 telescoping wash brushes already(Turtle Wax one right now soap in the handle kind) works fantastic.

I've gone through Meguiars, Turtle Wax Ultra Gloss, Zaino's and currently working on a bottle of Meguiars NXTgen wax(very good IMHO). Best quess, around 60 washes and 20 waxes. Hand applied, powered off :o

Victory Red,
I noticed that you have used Zaino, did you not like it?? I am thinking about placing an order with them next week. I have tried the Meguiars NXTgen wax, and found it really hard to get off of my paint. Just curious on your Zaino experience. Thanks,
Russ

Now that's what we like to hear!! My truck gets washed at least once a week and polished every three or four weeks. What did you not like about the Zaino?? This is something I stumbled across searching this site when looking to purchase my Dmax and wish I would have found it years ago. I have a black truck that sits at a dirt track every weekend sometimes collecting large amounts of dust and it has kept it looking showroom new which is really saying something (why oh why did I buy another black truck).

I think the Zaino product is fantastic for finish and useability. It shines your truck so well sitting in the cabin you'll be able to see the orange peel finish on your hood. However it didn't seem to be the longest lived formula that I ever encountered. After a rain storm or two the small beads became large ones than non existant within a months time for me. I've got a red truck(screename) which is one the worst colors to maintain(according to a body shop owner friend of mine) so that along with my region may be a little harder on it.

The NXTgen seems to hold up a little better, albeit the finish isn't quite as nice and it's a little harder to work. Plus there is always the advantage of it being on the shelf which I can't get with Zaino.

Victory Red,

Agreed on all counts; I sort of noticed that if I put 3-4 coats on of Z-2 and Z-5 that it lasts longer and keep after it with the Z-6 in between. But I fully understand where you are coming from. And supposedly red (my other color) is also difficult because of it yellowing and fading into a sort of orange color if you don't keep after it especially if it sits in the sun and the UV just kills the brightness.
