I'm in lower michigan and the temps. starting to drop I bought this truck used and have not been through a winter with it yet and I noticed today the temp was about 28 degrees and I didn't let it warm up much and it seemed like it didn't want to shift into overdrive for a while.I have amsoil Transfluid in it and running royal purple in the motor I generally let it warm up for a couple of minutes and just drive it real easy to get it up to temperature faster. Is there a temp. sensor to keep it out of overdrive?

The lockup converter is disabled until the fluid reaches a certain temp. It feels like it is in 4th, but I believe you were in 5th.

This link might help you understand the shifting of the Allison at cold temps. http://www.gmtcny.com/allison_lct_1000.htm

JakeGMCHD Thanks so much for the link. I to was wondering about cold weather. I have a 01 2500 HD CC with 145K on it and sometimes I feel like some things may be going south so when I read links like what you have posted here I understand things better. Thanks to you and Diesel Place.
