2004 Chevy DMax LLY 2500 7000 mi. have a pop or loud click noise under the truck upon starting and also after shutting it down in park. Slight hesitation then a loud click noise coming from under my feet..loud enough to hear and be felt...intermittent in nature..truck in park...not moving...one pop/click only. Dealer changed oil then immediately noticed strange smell in cab like propane or natural gas......weird smell and has gone away it seems after a couple weeks....check engine light came on a few days ago and then the glow plug light stays on when cold.....a long time.....code v0106 and shop ordered glow plug control module....starts fine and runs fine but the fuel/weird smell bugs me still....any possible way all this is related? (excluding the pop/click) which I still have after they claim they fixed it by adjusting the cradle piece for better fit....nice they did that but didn't help the single ping noise...any ideas out there?

Not sure about the noises but the "smell" after an oil change is normal... For some reason "new" oil produces this smell for a while ... the vapor comes out of the crank case vent tube on the lower passenger side of the engine... Some oil brands are worse than others but it always clears up after a few hundred miles...

Agree with JBP................I'm an Amsoil dist, and I get calls pretty frequently from my folks stating their concern with a peculiar smell (especially after they convert to synthetics). I run the 20-50 severe duty racing oil in my boat and it stinks to high heaven, but knowing my $40K+ in motors is protected..............PRICELESS :D

I still look for leaks and would encourage you do the same......I never get comfortable with smell either way.
