I just picked up my new 05 GMC sierra 2500HD with the LLY Duramax. I traded in my 03 silverado HD LBY Duramax for it. Just wondering if there are any different quirks between the 2 motors? So far the truck is awesome it rides like it's on rails and the motor is smooth. Can't wait to show her off to my buddies):h

I don't think there are very many differences between the two trucks from what I've read. . . The wait to start light won't stay on as long on the '05, and it will warm up faster with the EGR in cold weather. . . Most of the differences you won't even notice probably. . .

Nice choice in rides. I have the same Quad too. The 450R looks bad-ass sitting in the bed. Now go put some 33's on the GM and make it look right too :ro)

not much changed..the main things are the power and torque went up (310/605) and also the injectors are on the outside of the motor now..easier to change..(common, known problem) and faster glow plug warm up. I am sure there are more smaller changes, but that is all I can think of at the moment.

sorry these aren't really quirks..only improvements

My 2005 has less towing power going up the hills. Don't understand why but I live in California and can barely hold 50MPH going up the steeper parts of the CAJON PASS. My 2003 could do it at 55-60. I am towing about 11,000lbs.

Happy with the truck in every other way, except this is very disheartening. As well, my mpgs are off by as much as 2. I got about 10 on average towing with the 2003, and this pig eats at the rate of 8 mpgs towing. Plus less power? Hard to swallow.

Man, that dissapoints me and i dont even own a Dmax, but , im in the hunt for one. You would think the new 605 would eat the lb7 for lunch, hate to hear it.

I live and Colorado and have pulled several passes (6% grades) over 10000ft and can hit 75 easily with my lly pulling ~ 7000lbs. The only thing that slows me down is the EGT gets a little too hot for my tastes when I try to run over 70

I'm still happy with the truck after a week. I'll see how I feel after a year and with the juice in it. oNce I can afford it:(
