: Shortage of injectors for DMAX 11/04?
fvandenheuvel 11-25-2004, 09:28 AM Picked up my 03 Dmax 2500 chevy from the dealer last night. They are telling me 4-8 weeks to get injectors. This would be OK except when I shut my truck off the diesel smell lasts overnight in my garage. Have other people heard of a shortage on injector parts? 28Kmiles on it. I think I'll call the regional office and see if I can get this process accelerated. I love this truck, but am disappointed with the turnaround time for repair and the more I read this may not be the last time I have the injectors replaced.
farfegnugan,
Some dealers can't seem to get them while others don't have a problem. You might get some where if you get squeeky.

antD-Max 11-25-2004, 01:49 PM i'm just about to get my first diesel. it's a 2004 with 27000km. is it me or does there seem to be alot of problems with the injectors?? i guess i'm in for problems at some point. maybe that is why there is a shortage of them. everyone is getting them replaced. how much would an injector job run if not under warranty?? also, would you be more apt to have these kind of problems after modifying the original "of the lot" truck
ob_1jr 11-25-2004, 03:48 PM The way I look at it, you only hear about the bad. I'm sure there are pleanty of people that don't have any problems. Granted, there have been a lot of injector problems, but it seems like you hear more about bad than good. I'm not too worried about the injectors. If they go, they go and hopefully the truck will be under warranty. It will be under warranty if they ever extend out the warranty on the 04s too for the engine. Although, I have quite a while before I hit 100,000 miles. I only have 18000 and some change right now. Just my 2 cents.

Don't worry - mine had 148,000 miles on it before injector problems and then it still ran like a raped ape. Course it was peeing fuel all over the ground out of the crank case. Top of the line motor, the best transmission.
WillowCreekStable 11-25-2004, 05:00 PM Drive it, enjoy it, don't worry about it.
arguy, I see you have a Z34. How's it treating you? I had a '91 and it was an absolute maintenance nightmare!

I eats brakes (third set in 28000 miles) and one transmission (my fault) I think she has 55,000 miles on it and it's a 94 she puts maybe 4000 - 7000 miles a year on it. It should last a little while. :ro) Best of all "NO PAYMENTS" ):h ):h
ON EDIT we did put head gaskets on it in 96. Just dyno'd at 150 hp 179 tq wife's birthday present. ( the dyno run)
Max Payne 11-26-2004, 09:26 AM Our dealership was scared of the shortage, so all of the D-Max driving employees here ordered a set of 8 off of our VIN #'s so we would have some in stock. We have 32 left.
