i finished swaping in my 6.2 turbo diesel from an 82 1/2 ton truck and it was missing the dipstick. Right now i have a transmision dipstick in it to kinda see where my oil level is, but i dont know where the lines need to be on the dipstick. I cant seem to find a replacement so i need a favor. Can someone measure from the point where the dipstick seats on top of the dipstick tube to where the lines are for the "add a quart Level" and "Full". This sounds stupid and i know, i have added 7 quarts like the mannual said but i dont know if the level in the pan is 7 quarts or 7 quarts minus the oil in the rest of the system.

Thanks,
Kyle

The 7 quarts of oil is for the pan plus the filter. I had to put a 350 dip stick in my 6.2. I drained the oil, replaced the filter, put in 6 qts. of oil, ran the engine until it was warm, let the engine cool down and then measured where the oil came to on the dip stip. I filed a sharp line on the dip stick, added the 7th quart and then measured again after the oil had drained into the pan. File another sharp line at that point for the full mark. I have been using my modified stick since 1985.
