I have an 05 D-Max w/ a 14 bolt 3.73 ratio, G-80 rear diff. I bought the truck used a month ago w/ 35700 mi on it. Being since I am an Amsoil dealer I have started to change the lube oils over to Amsoil synthetic's. So far engine oil is changed, now I am working on the rear diff. Thought I would check the oil level in the diff first, I have read from other threads on this sight that sometimes the GM factory workers don,t fill them correctly.
Sure enough I drove my pinky finger down into the fill hole as far as I could and did not touch oil
Would like to know the bolt torque specs and oil capacity. I am figuring from an Amsoil spec sheet around 6 pints. It shows 6.3 pints for a 11.50 ring gear. Anyone know what my G-80 ring gear size is 9.50,9.75,10.5 or 11.50  :thankyou2

Rear is a 11.5 14 bolt if i remember correctly. It will also hold around 4 quarts give or take alittle. Should fill it up so the oil level is 1/2 inch below the fill hole. Use a allen key to stick in the hole and measure.

No need to remove the back, unless you really want to. It has a fill & a drain.

When i changed mine i called my buddy at the tranny shop and he said the torque specs for the drain was 36ft.lbs. and the fill was 40ft.lbs. and I did put Amsoil in every thing that used some type of oil.:D

Hey! zerogravity58 you are correct about the rear end diff ring gear size :hail:

Seems that a local (Big Chain) auto parts store sold me a gasket for the 10.5 ring gear. Tried the dealer and they gave me the wrong one also. Seems there puta data base shows 10.5 ring gear for the Dmax 2500HD's,but fortunately for me the 11.5 is a 1 Ton rear end in a 3/4 ton truck :thumb:

Still looking for the torque specs for the diff cover bolts,if there are any:confuzeld :thankyou2
