I took my husky liners out after a trip pulling my camper and noticed steam coming from the passenger side floor. I felt the carpet and it was drenched. I blamed the kids for spilling water (Bad Dad). I got it all dried up after about a week of leaving the doors open all day. Took a trip this weekend (Long one with Gooseneck), and my floor is soaked again. Any ideas where this might be coming from?

Heater core? Do you smell antifreeze?

you might have to pull up the floor carpeting and trim around the floor, look for any holes or uncaulked joints in the panels of the vehicle. Ive had it on my previous vehicle and my girlfriend has the same problem. its not a rare occurance. its not a chevy, ford, nor a dodge thing. the vehicles are produce too fast and care isnt taken to watch for mistakes. and the steam is from the exhaust being right underneath the floor. its cooking the moisture.

Check the air conditioner under the dash. I don't know about these trucks, but a car my daughter owned had the same problem. I looked under the dash and a hose had come off of the air conditioner unit. I guess that is where the water comes from that we see on the ground when we park.

X2 My trucks passenger floor was getting soaked because the drain hose that goes into the engine compartment was plug. Once it was clean out i now have that water pooling nicely under my truck where is should be.

look under your truck while it's idling with the A/C on. If after a bit, you don't see water dripping on the ground, guess where it's going. Either a drain hose plugged or come off....unless your wet carpet smells like antifreeze and the coolant reservoir is low in which case I'd bet heater core. Good luck!

I second the motion on this. My 96 Caprice did this on the way to Texas and I had 3 inches of water on the rear passenger side floor. Turned out the condensation line came apart at the elbow and leaked into the passenger compartment. If it's not this I would check the heater core next.

Happened to me this summer....a/c was on but i had windows down on a very humid day. After about an hour i noticed water on the floor at the outlet on passenger side. Now i keep the windows up on super humid days.... Hasen't happened since...just adding my 2 cents in..

Had it happen to the wife's 02 Yukon XL. But it happened to the rear A/C unit. The whole cargo area from the tailgate to the floors in the middle row seats where drenched. Talk about a mess....

I am leaning toward the AC line then because there is no smell to it at all. I will check it out tonight.

Pull the passenger side inner fender well and look through the wheel well directly bleow the A/C accumulator (big silver can mounted to firewall) there should be a 90* rubber elbow attached to the firewall directly below it. This is the A/C condensate drain.

Mine gets wet just sitting in the driveway, but only after a heavy rain. I think either the windshield is leaking or there's a clogged drain. Only the pax side floor at the door hinge area gets wet. Luke

I had the same problem. Turned out to be the evaporator housing leaked. Resealed, and good as new.

Took a little while to figure out exactly what was up though. Thought at first it was the drain as well.

I need to repalce the fuel filter this weekend. Going to wait till then since I take the inner wheel well out to do it. I'll post an update of what I find or a question, I'm sure!

I'm struggling with this. Can't figure out where it is coming from. Pulled the wheel well, couldn't see any obvious plugs in the drain. Pulled the carpet up, the insulation is soaked. No smell of antifreeze though. Where else should I look. Guess I will trying running the ac for a few minutes and see if I can see any drips. I know it does puddle on the ground, under the truck when the ac runs. I'll keep you posted on what I find, but could use some more advice here.

Found it! Was a small crack in the plasitc housing under the dash where the evaporator condensate runs out to the drain outlet on the firewall. The crack is right on the hole where the screw goes in to hold the plastic cover on. I had this cover off a few months ago replacing my cabin filters. May have pulled on it with the screw in or something causing the crack. I was releived to find it and see cool clear water dripping and not hot red collant!!! Silicone to the rescue after it dries up good. Just an FYI for future diags; The water dripped about a drop every 30-45 seconds after running for about 20 minutes. Left it run another 20 and the drips stayed about the same. When I shut it off the drips increased to one every second.

Good stuff, glad it was something relatively easy.

Bingo! Took me quite a while to find it as well!
