Holley Universal In-Tank MPI Fuel Pick-Up Kit

Product images may differ from actual product appearance.
Holley introduces another ingenious solution for fuel starvation problems for vehicles with non-baffled fuel tanks or off-road vehicles (Jeeps, trucks, SUVs, etc.). This Holley kit uses multiple fuel pickups points within the fuel cell. Using multiple fuel pickup points within the fuel cell insures that at least one point will always be covered by fuel. A oneway check valve prevents any air from being sucked into the fuel system. Can be used in conjunction with either a mechanical or electrical fuel pump. Holley offers a high output 255 liters/hour, in-line electric fuel pump for this purpose, under P/N 510-12-920.
baimpala 11-25-2004, 10:58 AM Are you going to put that in before you mount the Supertank?
qwikernu 11-26-2004, 10:27 PM How does "one way" differentiate air from fuel in the line?
problemchild 11-28-2004, 02:49 PM I believe its like a reverse snorkel. Its only open if fuel puts presure on it. If fuel goes away (slanted tank) then it closes.
People who have it swear by it.
It makes the tank useable to the last drop.
PaulRahoi 11-28-2004, 04:55 PM ...for vehicles with non-baffled fuel tanks...
It makes the tank useable to the last drop.
ProblemChild: My Supertank is arriving Mon or Tue. Is this a "non-baffled fuel tank"? (I was under the impression that it WAS baffled). Is the SuperTank NOT "usable to the last drop"? (I was of the impression that it WAS). If not, can you share some details on just how much would not be usable? Not that I plan to drain it down to near empty, but I'd just like to know in case I forget to fuel up and am driving in remote regions. --Paul.
problemchild 11-28-2004, 08:54 PM I dont think transfer flow or supertanks are baffled/
The one I bought is not. I will use this item and it solves the problem.
The price is right for both items.
freddyo 11-29-2004, 12:29 AM My Transfer Flow is baffled.
02dmax 11-29-2004, 02:49 PM Paul,
The supertank is not baffled and uses the factory pickup. If the tank is on a steep incline with low fuel level it could suck air. But with 75 gal you can go a long ways without getting that low.
FWIW,
Michael
problemchild 11-29-2004, 08:38 PM Again these tanks are half price because the new smaller baffled tanks are coming out. Just buy the holly pickups and live with it.
PaulRahoi 11-30-2004, 12:00 PM ProblemChild: Are you installing your SuperTank yourself? If so, have you done it, and how difficult was it to install the Holly kit? Perhaps I just have a mental block here, but I'm picturing this ENCLOSED (or nearly enclosed) fuel tank-- how do you place and secure the "pickup points" in different parts of the fuel tank? How long does this installation take? Thanks. --Paul.
problemchild 11-30-2004, 10:59 PM He said 2 hours I will take 3 and do it right.
The pickups will slide into place by a hose.
PaulRahoi 12-05-2004, 05:56 PM ProblemChild: Did you get it installed? Any snags? --Paul.
problemchild 12-05-2004, 07:15 PM yes
the filler neck would not screw into the side. Not tapped properly. He's sending me a new tank.
baimpala 12-06-2004, 01:57 PM Uh-Oh. . . I knew it was too good to be true. . . I thought for once, something would go perfectly for you PC.

problemchild 12-06-2004, 09:10 PM You have to be kidding......
The owner said they had never seen this before.
I get the one tank out of 10 million thats defective.
The company is nice and even offered to overnite that heavy tank.
I said ground would be ok.
flivver 12-10-2004, 01:22 PM Problemchild,
Any updates on the tank/pickup installation?
baimpala 12-10-2004, 01:44 PM I guess the lesson is that if something is going well, don't mention it until you're SURE it's going to be good. . . Nice of you to let him ship it ground. . . Anything new on the subject?
Dennis

The Original Diesel 12-10-2004, 05:51 PM I am really interested to see how you incoporated the Holley pickup with the factory canister pickup?? I have used the holley pickups successfully in other applications but I just don't see how they are going to work in this case given the size of the tank and desgin of the factory pickup.
I had a transferflow in my last truck and you had to have a minimum of 8-10 gals to keep from sucking air (SB, CC, 42gal tank). I would fill up at 400-450 miles just to be safe. In addition, if I had to park it on a hill I had to make sure the nose was pointed uphill (learned that the hard way). FWIW the tank was baffled but did not seem to do much to keep the fuel from sloshing.
My 26 gallon factory tank is driving me crazy and I am very close to trying a supertank. On the other hand I still have a bad taste in my mouth from my last experience with the oversized tank. I do not want to spend the money just to gain 8-10 gals of useable fuel. Keep us posted on this and take pictures if you can.........
Thanks,
OD
PaulRahoi 12-16-2004, 06:24 PM Hi ProblemChild: Any updates on the Holley/Supertank installation???
Diesel Dragon 03-20-2005, 04:33 PM PC did you ever install the Holley fuel pickup's in your Super Tank, and if you did how did it work out?
Might need the Holley fuel pickup for another reason.
Thx

Deadeye 03-21-2005, 01:50 PM Super Diesel helped me install my Super Tank last Saturday. Mine was a 1st generation before baffles or sump were included. $500 plus $100 shippin. Took about 6 hours to remove stock and install. would have been quicker if my truck didn't have a lift kit and the installation instructions were more detailed.
All and all, I am quite happy with it. It sure takes a lot of space: from the TQ bar crossmember back to the axle and from two inches form the DS to the frame. 53 gallons for XCSB. cost me $114 to fill the tank Sat nite ! Hope this will cut my refuel stops !!
