A friend of mine has a Dmax and would like a little more pop but also would like a little better milage if that is possible. I'm a greenhorn when it comes to Dmaxes but I'd imagine the pressure boxes would be a decent option like on the Cummins. The duration boxes dont seem to increase or decrease milage on the Cummins (with normal driving), atleast on my truck. Is it the same with the Dmax as well?

Thanks
Nathan

Pressure boxes are not that populare anymore on the dmax. Most boxes available on the market don't use this way of providing additional power. You'll get a small mileage improvement, especially when loaded in my case, but you'll also get alot more mileage enjoyment.

The mileage improvement is there; it's just that with more power comes a heavier foot wich tend to wash away the improvement. When I'm loaded, I don't have a choice, I can't drive too fast and that's where I see the improvement. I guess you may calculate it as being 1-3 mpg.

Many will claim gains with pulse/duration boxes, but I've only seen minimal gains. If he really wants mpg tell him to save his money to buy fuel, OR look at the boxes that rattle from excessive timing as that is where the mpg seems to be.

The biggest advantage I've heard of is being able to hold a higher gear under load. Unloaded this makes no difference as you can run 5th up 'any' hill.

Mileage is pretty much in the right foot department. I can give you a pretty good example from my truck (04 LLY TTS catback and 50 Hp tune). Los Angeles to Vegas with 1500 lbs in the bed @ 85 + (little over 3 hours)=14.3 mpg. Return from Vegas to LA with same load @ 75 = 18.3 mpg. Normal around town and freeway average is 18 - 19 mpg. So the bottom line is the more you have the more you will play and the worse the mileage gets.

That's for sure. I went 60 mph down to Florida from Newport over the Summer and got right around 20 mpg (on the high side). Just took a short trip to Rochester and got around 19. I was going about 65 the whole time, but I have 285's on it now. In town, I get around 10, sometimes less. . . seems to have something to do with jackrabbit starts and full throttle acceleration until hard braking is required to make the next light. . . . ):h

I run the Pup from Bully Dog for the last 5,000.0 miles and this has given me
60 miles more out of each tank of fuel . With the Pup I set my Tire size and
have it set on the 80 hp/ setting . I do get 22 mpg. when I drive to work/school
and back 210 miles . This is all 75 & 80 mph on the big road . I hope this helps you
and your friend .

IMO mileage gains with added power arent all that - you will get some but its minimal and like it was said above the easier you drive the better mileage you get PERIOD ! ive been testing out all kinds of things and driving habits and after 9k miles have pretty much figured out what i get when and why and it all has to do with the right foot !

Mileage GAINS?????? You mean I'm supposed to get better mileage with a box?

HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! Seriously, though, I run the Juice/Attitude and haven't seen any change.

Thanks guys. Sorry it took so long to get back to ya but I've been chasing elk with my smokepole. Basically it sounds like the same thing as with the dodge's. If you drive the same as before you might see 1-2mpg increase if you use the additional power more it goes bye bye.

GJ,
He lives an hour or so from me and is a patient of my dad's so he is in town quite often to see him.
