Can anyone tell me the max tire size that will fit on the stock forged 16" x 6.5" rims on a GMC Sierra 2500 HD ECLB 4x4? Without a lift? I've seen LT305/70R16 and LT285/75R16. I don't want any rubbing. Thanks!:ro)

i was going to go with 285's but the allison website put me off on that.

I on the other hand have Yokohama Geolander's on Weld 16X8" wheels and they rubbed like crazy everywhere, till I fixed it that is ;)

285 on stock wheels will need inner fender tied back but no airdam trimming.

When u go wider wheels it pushes the tire out and will cause airdam rubbing.

My 285s barely touched on the driver side because of the resevoir for the window washer fluid pushing the fender liner out a little, I ziptied that back and it hasn't touched anywhere else with no cranking or trimming. I'll probably put my green keys from my 2000 in and a 1" block in the back when I have the money to buy shocks. Mostly just to raise the frame a little higher off the ground.

Nar,

Do you have 16x6.5 or 16x8 rims? Just wanted to check.

I have the stock 16x6.5 aluminum wheels. The tires I have are the same tread as the big O XT, just some cheaper brand. They are really flat across the tread and not rounded on the edges, more squared off so they bite good. So actually they are closer to the plastic than a round edge tire like say a cooper or something.

are replacement keys better than just cranking on the torsion bars? I plan on buying Bilstein's once I level the front and I'd like to keep the back at the stock height, no blocks.

For just an inch I'd just get some 1x3.5x6 or so metal and make them. Not sure on the 3.5, measure how wide your springs are to be sure. Just drill a hole on the top for the pin to fit into and weld a nut or something on the bottom as the alignment pin. Or drill it all the way and bolt it onto the bottom of the spring pack with a longer tie bolt, that's what I did on my 76. When I put a 2 inch block in my 2000 I got it from www.tsliftkits.com (http://www.tsliftkits.com) along with the torsion keys, and the block they sent was narrower than my springs and that bothered me. It never moved or anything, just bothered me. They did send nice long ubolts though.

On edit: Made a quick check of www.tsliftkits.com (http://www.tsliftkits.com) and they do have an inch block for $26. But if it's like the one I got, it will be 1/2 an inch narrower than the springs. That's only 1/4 inch on each side. This is probably not a problem, it never moved or anything on my 2000, but it might bother some people. If I go with a 2 inch block on this truck I might still get one from them just for the nice longer ubolts.
