Just got a 2005 HD2500. Does anyone know which color wire to cut coming down the steering column to stop the key in ignition warning. (when shut down and doors open)
Or is there a better way to do it?
Get's real old fast around the farm with the doors open alot.
Thanks

Welcome!!
You could do a search here on The Diesel Place, as this has been asked, discussed and instructions on how to do.

Welcome! You can get an aftermarket stero system installed and that will stop the thing from dinging. It is the only function lost when the shop installed my Alpine system.

Heh, I hated that. My solution was slap the pioneer stereo in it right away, the stock radio is what plays the tones. New wiring harness came with a little dinger box and I just tore the speaker wires off the little speaker before I installed it. Now I can listen to the stereo with the doors open while working on stuff and not go nuts.

For those of us who have the 01 and 02 models.
Just go under the dash and run an ice-pick thru the
door dinger and KILL that noise.
It is so nice listening to music with the door open :)

You could also put a switch inside the door to make the contact on the door. Might be a little work, but I think it would be pretty awesome. . . You could turn it on an off at will.
