: Is this an Injector problem??

I have had friends tell me that once and a while my truck will leave a puff of white smoke from a take off. The other day on my way home I had the TTS Extreme on the highest setting and the propane on, tank was almost empty that's why it was on. I was starting off from a stop sign, just normal driving not in it at all and there was a pop/bang from the motor, and puff of smoke out the tail pipe. Seemed to run a little rougher only a few blocks from home though.
The next day I started the truck and it cranked a little longer than normal. It started and was idling quite rough along with a lot of white smoke coming from the tailpipe. It looked and smelled like my 1960's case 1030 tractor on a cold morning start with no pre-heating aka "544cu in 6 cly diesel no turbo w/8,000+ hours"
There was a slight ticking or knocking noise at idle as well. After checking the oil, normal level, however seems to be getting dirty faster than normal changed every 3,00 miles. Checked the coolent didn't see any oil in it. After the truck warmed up there wasn't any noticable smoking. When luging the motor or just gradual exceleration the engine ticked/knocked warm and cold from 1500-2100 rpms. The power still seems to be pretty good, not really use to the lower setting but it was pretty good, fairly smooth for the most part.
I have a preditor programer and pulled the balancing rates:

In Drive with brake fully applied at idel engine temp over 180F with everything off except head lights
3.75 mm Cyl 1
-2.54 mm Cyl 2
-4.10 mm Cyl 3
-1.94 mm Cyl 4
-3.25 mm Cyl 5
0.82 mm Cyl 6
-0.76 mm Cyl 7
1.85 mm Cyl 8
In neutral brake fully applied engine temp over 180F with everything off except headlights
4.50 mm Cyl 1
-3.28 mm Cyl 2
-3.78 mm Cyl 3
-2.21 mm Cyl 4
-3.42 mm Cyl 5
0.96 mm Cyl 6
-1.35 mm Cyl 7
1.36 mm Cyl 8
I know that in drive -6 mm - 6mm is ok
and in neutral -4 mm - 4mm is ok
any thoughts on this problem.. 03' with 35,350 miles factory fuel filter changed every other oil change 6,000 miles with the FM100 pump/filter the last 6,000 miles or so??? Any other ways of knowing if is injectors for sure, I don't want to pull of all the "goodies" to take it to the sealer unless I am sure that's what the problem is.
Thanks,
Jon

Jon,
Your engine should be scanned with a tech-2. look at the reading for the fuel rail pressure regulator fuel flow. If the reading is above 2500 mm3 then you most proberly have a cracked injector body. Prior to changing my injectors my reading was 5,500 mm3 and after I replaced the injectors it fell to 860 mm3 and all the problems were corrected. This is not a fool proof way of diagnossing faulty injectors but it can help.

Took it into the local dealer, got it in right away and about an hour later all 8 injectors were on order no problems with the gauges, FM100, intake, exhaust, tires... I thought I would get some flack about the nitrous gauge in there. I guess now all I do is way..
Thanks,
Jon

Wow.......I'm starting to worry about my injectors......I'm planning on yanking the fm100(and of course the programing;) ) if it hits the fan. I wouldnt have enough stones to take it in with a nitrous gauge hooked up, maybe a bit of tape over the bezel;) Glad to hear they are figuring it out for ya

Don't count yer chickens yet, Big Jon.....

I have heard brutal stories on this site about voiding ones warranty.
