I have a 2001 Dmax . I am a 1st time diesel owner.I got it with 50,000 miles on it. I have already had to put a fuel pump regulator and some type of switch on the transmission. I just returned from a hunting trip and on the way I purchased a water pump (125,000 miles). On the way home the trucks SES light came on and the truck lost power(speed), I pushed the accelator to the floor and nothing. Then patting it acouple of times it picked back up. It shifts fine at this point. It would run fine for awhile then loose power. I was able to limp into a dealership(chevy -A large one) and the SES light goes off. We replaced the fuel filter and air filter- problem not fixed and light comes on again. The diagnostics indicated something to do with the fuel pressures , which according to the mechanic means a fuel pump(2 days at the dealership and $1550.00 later). We left,70 miles out the SES light comes on again and power is lost . It picks back up, and 100 miles more I stop and switch the truck off 10 min. The light goes off. I ran about 65-70mph with no problems unless I sped up going up a hill. We made it 1100 miles and light is on all the time now. Drove the last 5 miles at various speeds as it eas really cutting up. Any ideas about the problem? I am going to our local dealer in the am.

Sorry about your problems,it can be frustrating. What would help is if you had access to the SES codes that came up.
I do doubt that the Bosch pump, the only one we have, would have gone bad not once but twice.

Could be as simple as a bad load of fuel.

Let us know what happens, good luck and welcome to the DieselPlace.

I did not get the codes, but the diagnostics indicated the injectors. They are working on finding some now. I was told about a 6 week wait. I am now wondering if I was a stranger , or is the normal course to replace the fuel pump and then the injectors. The diagnostics after the fuel pump put the pressures in the normal range. I am trying to repeat things that I have little ,but am gaining knowledge.
After all these things have been replaced, what other problems pop up? My husband is trying to put me back in a Z71, and I still like the Dmax(even with the problems).

didnt hear a fuel filter mentioned...

Also, I would be seeking reimbursement for your repairs that didnt fix it.

But first I would start with a new fuel filter..

sorry, missed it the first time.

Be interesting to see if fuel pressure can be commanded to 160MPA.

A return volume test will find a fuel injector that is causing a 93 code. Injectors are covered to 200k so your set there, but I would be tactfully asking for something in return for the 1500.00 misdiagnosis...
