: How do I get this "stance"?
05LLY2500HD 11-22-2004, 07:29 PM Ok, I'm looking for ideas on how to get the stance that I want for my truck. I saved a pic from some website(how I want mine) but can't seem to find the website or figure out how to download it here.
I want the "bull dog" look, I want my tires stickin' out a little, not too much maybe 1 1/2 or 2". I don't know how to get this look, hopefully you guys can help.
I can't get a lift, I pull a fifth wheel. I have made up my mind on BFG AT's, more than likely 285/75/16s.
The backspacing and offset and wheel spacers just throw me off, don't understand it all; and/or how to compromise it to get the look. I want my front and rear tires to have the same or at least a very close track width.
Any ideas?
I don't mind cranking my tbars and trimming up front.
Also, I can upload the pic I have to a website on MSN and give the address if anyone is interested in looking.
Thanks.

365/65-16s on 16x10 rims with 4.5" backset.
Dawgj77 11-22-2004, 08:21 PM Go with 16x10"wheels with 285/75/16 tires, turn your bars up, put a block in the back to compensate....tires will stick out 1"of tred then sidewall sticks out....cheap easy looks awsome...it may take some convincing of the dealer that you get your wheels from that 10" wheels will fit, but it is definatly possible....i did minimal trimming and have FULL clearance at FULL turn.....good luck

05LLY2500HD 11-22-2004, 08:30 PM Fingers,
WOW, that truck looks MEAN! Awesome looking ride. I think the tires are a lil bigger than what I want to go with, though.
10" rims fit without a lift?????
05LLY2500HD 11-22-2004, 08:31 PM How do I download a pic, that I have saved in "my pictures"??
tysmith 11-22-2004, 08:43 PM re-arched springs or added leaves will give a better ride than blocks...
more $$$, though...

Fingers 11-22-2004, 08:56 PM It isn't he rim width, it the tire you put on the rims. Without trimming, the wider you go the less tire width you can handle. Backset can't get over about 5.5" or you will rub the A frames. My rims are 4.5" backset which is about the same as stock.
baimpala 11-22-2004, 09:13 PM Did Fingers mention the trimming he did to get those big-a$$ tires to fit? Something about a sawzall and a BFH to make it work. . . Gotta admire a man that can do that to a brand new truck. . . kind of.
05LLY2500HD 11-22-2004, 09:17 PM If I could only get this pic to load. I really think these are 16x8's with some weird offset or backspacing, maybe even wheel spacers.???????
Pro400exc 11-22-2004, 10:12 PM Bull Dog look?
I dunno bout ya'll..but the "Bull Dog" look around here is when you crank the torsion bars up and get drop shackles for the rear so the rear is squatting.....IMO that looks saweet...My Duallies about to be "bulldoggin"...BTW since i cranked my Torsion bars up..she's setting pretty..looks like a 4wheel drive but she's only 2...now all i need is Z71 stickers..lol
ockgator 11-22-2004, 11:07 PM You CAN lift it and run a 5vr. Just limit tire size to about 33's or so. Kits with raised knuckles gives about 3" wider track in front, no need to have 2 diff. backspaced wheels. I pull TT's and goosenecks all over SE with no problems and I run 35's. A wider wheel will reduce tire diameter a bit. You may actually be able to run 33's on 12" wheels but I haven't seen it, most trucks we lift run 8's or 9's
B-Rad502 11-23-2004, 12:07 AM I opted to level the front with cranking the torsions a little and then going to a 16x8 wheel and 265 tire. It has a "non-stock" stance and my 5th wheel still rides nice and level behind the truck.

2500HD04 11-23-2004, 12:23 AM go to go advanced, don't use quick reply and then go to manage attachments, you might have to scroll down a bit to find it. Then browse and find your pic and upload. Hope this helps. Like this
baimpala 11-23-2004, 07:43 AM I know you've got to have a more recent photo than that. . . I wanna see that puppy finished. . . .

The Original Diesel 11-23-2004, 12:40 PM I have 285 BFGs on Weld 16x8 EVO Rengegades with a 4.14 Backspace or -9mm offset. Go with a negative offset if you want the wheels to stick out. I had to run the bars up about 9 turns (factory keys) and trim the inner fender liner and bumper (GMC).
Here's a pic on my old truck.

05LLY2500HD 11-23-2004, 01:06 PM The Original Diesel,
How did you get the rears inline with the fronts?

It must just be an optical illusion in the picture.
If you get a negative offset wheel it will push the rears out of the fender wells. As a result, you do not notice the differences in track widths quite as much between the front and rear.
I switched this combo over to my 04 LLY and it has been great. I do have to swap back to my factory combo when it goes to the dealer since they released the service bullietin on tire size.
2500HD04 11-23-2004, 04:13 PM Ba I do have some new ones in the camera, I have to download to p/c and upload to DP. I will try tonite. I had to do a practice run first.

HeavyD 11-24-2004, 10:01 AM Do the crew cabs come with a rear sliding window now or is that aftermarket? I know it was not a factory option on my 03. Thanks.
