I have a 04 Chev 2500HD and i am wondering if the Bulbs from HID kits will fit into the headlight casing, since there is a shield around the bulb.

Thanks

I'm not sure, but I have the Sylvania Silver Stars and they are BRIGHT. I bought them for all of my vehicles after installing them in my 2500. They run between $40-$50 for a pair.

I am looking to install a real HID kit into it, not rilly into those tinted bulbs

Aren't those Silver Stars supposed to only last a year? Seems like a high price to pay for a one year bulb. . .

Usually, but not always. . .The HIDs are cool, but I don't think the Silver Stars are worth the big dollars. . .

I used to have the cheaper tinted bulbs in my S-10, but the intensity of the light wasn't that drastic of a change. They did last 2 years before I sold it though. The Sylvania's are a huge improvement over the stock bulbs, and they aren't really tinted like the cheaper bulbs from APC and those other companies. They're a really bright white. Hopefully they last a couple years. If not, I'll go a week or two without beer to offset the cost of the Sylvania's. ):h

I just installed my 6000K HID kit, and I am very happy with the light it outputs. After the ski trip i went yesturday, I think they were well worth it, see alot better in the fog and early in the morning.

Silver-Stars are overpriced crap IMO, I went though a couple sets in a couple months...and NO I DIDN'T TOUCH THEM!...The second time they blew, I went with APCs just as good plus I got some $$ back with them...tbyrne just started carrying HID kits, I'll be checking them out on his truck...if he ever gets it... and probably buying a set from him...

Which APC's did you buy? They make some shitty quality stuff.

Can I ask where you got these from? And if you dont mind approx price? I am really interested in getting some, as I have replaced 6 silverstars in 13 months.

Thanks,
John

I don't know why the silverstars get knocked so much. I've had mine in for over a year now and have yet to replace a bulb. I like it so much I went out and got a 7" round for my bike as well.

Best $40 I ever spent IMHO

I have bad luck with headlights as a rule. When I bough the silverstars I figured I'd be lucky if they lasted me a week the way people around here talk about them. That was over a year ago and this is the second truck they have been in and not one has quit yet!

I got them from someone selling them on a local online forum for 320cad, its brand new in box and the kit comes with Osram ballest, so they are the good quality ones.

I know a online company that sells quality HID kits, www.xenondepot.com (http://www.xenondepot.com)
they are a sponsor of Vancouver Prelude Club (i also own a 99 Prelude)and a lot of their members are very happy with the kit.

I use HIDs in most of my vehicles and will be installing the 6000k kits in my Sierra (high beam, low beam and lower driving lights). Most customers go with the 4300k for the brighter light but the 6000k looks good with the bluish tint.

will using HID in the foglights cause any problems like over heating or melting the lines? I take it that u will be using 9005 instead of 9145

There shouldn't be a problem. This picture shows my 2002 Suburban with 6000k HIDs parked next to my 300C with the regular lights. That will be upgraded soon.
