What kind of truck/motor do you have?
I found following a few guys step by step tuning here helped to just get familiar with going through the tables and stuff. Like McRats 20-20 tune. not what you want exactly but a good way to get familiar.
Logging. I tired a few times so far but only on the bro's LBZ so I wasnt to serious with it. But basically hook it up, fire up the scan tool and then just start screwing with all the buttons and options haha.
For the LBZ the alli controls I guess sont work yet... but it does give you a shift range inhibited and kick it into neutral while your driving if you screw with it. Freaked my bro out haha.
It would help to know what kind of truck you got but basically the fast way to making a bit of power was playing with the main injection tables and timing tables.

For starters try B0727, B0720, B0721 and B0910 and log the PID's that give you the values for each table.
Then set up your Dashboard and MAPs in the scan tool. If you have questions with this let me know:)
