2002 Silverado w/Duramax .I do not tow or carry heavy weight.

At 101,000KM I changed the tranny oil and filter and put in Transynd.Maybe i did not do something correctly,IN REGARDS TO GETTING EVERYTHING OUT.

All i did was pull the plug and filter, let it drain DRY,cleaned the magnet and replaced the plug and filter.I changed the spin -on at 106000KM and again at 136000KM.
Today at,144000KM-after a run of 6200KM i see what appears to be foam on the stick when i did a hot check of the tranny fluid.

Anybody have any opinions on what I have done and of my observation.

Also today i drained my oil and filter and repalced with Shell Rotella 5w40.This is my first use of synthetic. How long should i run before changing oil again

You are either over full or sump filter is sucking a little air.

What was the actual level reading on the stick idling hot in park?

It was just slightly below the top of the hot fill mark.

Thanks Mackin.
Thanks Mike .As i replied to Mackin above the level does not indicate overfill. Now tell me what a sump filter is.I should also point out that it is not an excessive amt of foam-just that i never seen it before this and i just returned from a 6200km steady highway run to western canada and back

The Sump filter is the actual pick up in the pan. If your fluid is low and you have some sloshing it may pick up some air.
Were you seeing some high then normal temps by chance? I have seen some trace amounts of foam on the top of the stick before myself,Transynd too IIRC.

No i have not seen any higher than usual temps and i do watch carefully. The foam i mention was at the top of the stick. The fluid does seem to be much darker than it originally was -just a duller red.I was as i indicated in another post last week seeing a bit of red fluid(not coolant) on the garage floor and an oil coating under the truck.I have inspected the bell housing where the drive shaft is connected and there seems to be a crack in the bell housing where one of the bolts is screwed in.Don't know what the exact part name is.I took a digital pic but can;t seem to post it

Here is the pic of the crack.I'm wonderin if it's a crack or from the mould?Last week it was covered with oil and i dried it all off before taking this pic.Also--the bolt that screws into this one was loose about an 1/8 th of a turn. All otheres in the bell housing were tight.

burntb4, on your original post it doesn't sound like you dropped the pan and replaced the sump filter, is that true? 101k km = how many miles? Maybe this has something to do with the foaming. JJ

Thanks Jj.No the pan has never been dropped.101000KM=62761Miles.
KilometresX.6214=miles.Spoke to an Allison dealer yesterday and he says that i need not worry about this little bit of slight foam.normal he says??Also using Transynd and the color has gotten quite different from original.More rusty looking than the bright reddish original.Again he looked at it and said it is normal??

The picture you posted just looks like part of the aluminum die casting process. The seem of two dies, pressed together.

The leakage I would suspect would be from the bolt being loose. For your piece of mind, take a look at again, in a few days.

Could be a bolt or just a weep. Keep an eye on it.
Transynd from what I understand has no uniform color in their dye process in manufacturing thru Castrol,I think they use what ever is handy.
I have seen MANY shades of red brown orange and so on as the heat is poured on the Transynd filled Allison. There is only TWO colors you need to worry about Black and Green, then you got trouble, big trouble. :D

The Foam as previously stated I've seen the same thing.

I have switched to Mobil Synthetic,I'm done with Transynd Mike L wore me down. :D

Nothing really it's a good Transmission fluid there other choices although.
I was a Transynd pusher as that is the Allison proffered blood, but I have switched to Mobil which Mike prefers.

My only peeve is Transynds lack of color consistency. When you drain it and it's yellowish brown tint makes you go hmmmmm. Is it good bad ,make a difference?Probably not.

Most fluids today have the proper friction additive so it's a buyers market. I do not do extended drain intervals either,my Max is high maintenance do to performance modifications.

Does help I can run Mobil products through my business account and for you IRS guys,I use my truck every day in business!!
