What kind of cone filter is best for filtration, flow, lowest silicates, blah blah blah..... I've been through 2 or 3 different kinds, and I'd like to get one and not worry about buying another....

I have a cone one right now, its one of those paper apc ones, just a cheap-o one I picked up at advanced.... I dont know what kind I need because I used to trust in K&N and now I've read so much stuff that is negative about them....

So what brand or kind that has a 3" or bigger opening, and is about 10" long, and doesnt cost like $70 would be a good choice for my truck????

Look into AEM, they have an oil-free synthetic filter that is supposedly very good.

Our Ea filters are pretty good. Here's a link to the page with the various sizes: http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/eaau.aspx
They vary in cost. PM me if you want to want to get an idea.

Heath, amsoil says 15000 miles between oil changes with their filter in a daily driven vehicle. I can buy the oil local but they have to order the filter. Does running another filter put us back to 3000 mile service intervals?

We're talking oil filter now? If you use another filter, you can still run the 15000 interval, you just need to change the filter at OEM intervals. This is according to AMSOIL as they won't back other filters. If going 15000, I would just change it at 7500 and then again when you change oil. SHould be fine.
