: What to do with LMM exhaust......
ISurvivedNMU 09-14-2007, 08:47 AM I am really not ready to change out the exhaust for a while, but the stock outlet pipe looks hideous......
I have a white truck and I have been thinking about painting it a flat or satin black...
Anyone done this? or have other ideas (other than changing it out)?
Thanks
ISNMU
z79outlaw 09-14-2007, 12:40 PM Paint will, peel off, maybe you could get by using the flat black stuff for like Barbeques and stuff like that it is supposed to be Hi-temp. I dont think that there is a cheap way to fix it. The only option is to replace it.
LBZrcks 09-14-2007, 12:41 PM You can also polish it. Might make it look better
monsterboardr 09-15-2007, 03:27 PM polish it! looks sweet!
tomrex 09-16-2007, 01:42 AM What are we using to polish our tips? Jeezuz, that sounds horrible. But really, buffer??
monsterboardr 09-16-2007, 01:58 AM start with 220,320,400,500,600,800,1000 then if you have polishing pads. . . its alotta work i'm only up to 500
tomrex 09-16-2007, 02:16 AM damn. I thouht I was done sanding. :( Just got through blocking, bodo-ing, blocking, priming, blocking again, painting, and color sanding the Jeep. Time to start again. Thanks for the info.
6spdgto 09-18-2007, 06:52 PM Did you ever get a nice stainless polish? I worked for hours and could get some reflection, but never a nice chrome like brilliance.
ISurvivedNMU 09-20-2007, 08:00 AM Got pics of these all polished up...???
tomrex 09-20-2007, 12:42 PM I havent gotten around to drinking 6 beers and making my pipe polished yet! I will get some pics as soon as i do it... :)
ISurvivedNMU 09-20-2007, 01:54 PM Thanks, I am still kicking around high heat black... Once i know it will look good polished, i will try the paint. All goes bad, i will sand off the paint and polish...
dlewis1340 09-20-2007, 02:37 PM there was pictures of a white LMM with the exhaust painted black. Do a search and you should be able to find it. I'd take a look at it before you do it. It was "different" looking.
ISurvivedNMU 09-20-2007, 03:10 PM Thanks, I don't want anything "different" looking..
I will search and link it here...

Yea, thats my truck! This is the original post. http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=168288
Not really very pretty...but quick and easy to do! Still better that stock look!
I saw a conversion truck with the tip cut off in the middle and a 6 inch magnaflow chrome tip welded on. The pipe was painted with header paint, it looked AWESOME.
