: relocated FSD to grill

I received JK's 72 inch extension harness, and today moved the FSD cooler from my upper intake manifold to the front of my rad. fed the harness thru the psgr side hole where the AC cooler lines come thru. made a bracket out of 1x1 aluminum angle bar. seemed to fit perfect, with no rubbing on the grill. had to keep it tight to the center to avoid the grill mount indent.
i faced the cooler to the back, logic was that the fan is drawing so air will be drawn away from the cooler . also allows me to slide a torx screwdriver thru the grill and make sure the FSD is still mounted tight.

did a test run for an hour, and i think it was much cooler....i could hold my finger on it, it was warm, but not hot like it was on the upper intake. after shutdown it cooled down quicker too. previous FSD failed after 10k on the cooler mounted on the upper intake, so we'll see how long this one lasts out front.

I faced them the same way. It was a matter of being able to reach in the grill and unplug it when required, back the two screws out and the cooler and driver are in hand.

I located mine here I did not want to block any more airflow http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15663

i've also got a front plate, so that spot wasn't an option.
of course i can only go by the temp gauge, but i'm not noticing any hotter temps due to reduced airflow...then its almost winter, and i'm not towing my boat or carrying my camper.
since i moved it, every time i get out of the truck and park it, i check the FSD for heat...only ambient temps so far,, and the truck is running great...so far so good.

Maybe a mental thing on my part, these trucks are so heat challenged I just could not see doing anything that could impede flow real or imagined losses of flow. Plus the Heath plate is flat & thin a Beta/DSG finnened cooler possibly too thick to fit.

Since this seems like "Show and Tell", here's where mine ended up (scroll down the page a little ways)... http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16009&page=9&pp=10

I originally wanted to mount the cooler/fsd in between the grill and the radiator, but I just couldn't find the room cuz the combination of the Kennedy cooler and the FSD was too thick.

Where it is now, it should still benefit some from the radiator fan drawing air over it at idle, be protected from airborn debris from vehicles in front of me, and catch plenty of breeze going down the road.
