I would like to hear from any out there that have, or know anything about the 2.7 Mercedes engines that are in these vans. Also good or bad things you have had happen with, or heard about these vans.

Something to consider is how many miles you are going to drive. We have a new one for aircompressor service for about 6 months and nobody and I mean NOBODY wants to drive it! It is the most uncomfortable vehicle I've ever driven. I'm 6'2" and even our smallest tech is about 5'5" and he can't drive it for any distance without a backache. Just a thought

This is a update on our work van it's been in the shop about 6 times battery going dead now there is a recall I believe for EGR valve and now the transmission is leaking and to my amazement after looking for the transmission dipstick I called the dealer and asked where it is and was told there is not one you have to take it into the dealer and have them install thier special tool (dipstick) and then remove it. What the heck ever happened to checking all fluids when fueling up or going on extended trips.

I'm a fleet mechanic at ups. We have 3 sprinters. The engines seem to be the only good part of the truck. Parts are very expensive and even Freightliner doesn't stock parts for them. The 2003 model with 180,000 miles had to have a new tranny. $8000.00 . Rearends in them are a weak link to. I wouldn't want one. It's also a problem to find a dealer to work on them.

we drive freightliner sprinters here at Fedex Express. I got in one the other day that had 380k miles on it, and the engine was fantastic, it's just the stuff around it that was falling all apart........
